Not funny at all I'm afraid. Their business model has obviously failed and regardless of the way they conducted operations, I wouldn't wish this on anybody. Many people are now faced with the prospect of paying a mortgage and feeding a family with no money coming in. I certainly wouldn't want to be in that position and I'm sure you wouldn't either. As for their delayed flights to and from the FI, I'd put money on the military side of things screwing that up.

I flew to Cyprus with them and a more inefficient bunch of tw@ts there has never been. The whole operation was shoddy, amateur and even the trolley dollys were ugly. They missed slots through their own inability to simply load an aeroplane in some sort of orderly manner both in Larnaca and Manchester. If there are many people facing hardships that is tough it is probably because they weren't up to the jobs they were doing in the first place.

The only bit of light relief they provided was they were so incompetant they compensated me twice for their fcuk ups:pDT_Xtremez_14:

I flew Larnaca-Luton and back with XL 2 weeks ago and thought they were quite good! Took off on time and landed a few minutes early on both trips and the cabin staff were both friendly and efficient. Biggest bonus of all was landing back at Larnaca and being on my way out of the terminal complete with all bags in 17 Minutes flat after getting off the ac!:)

I measured the time to compare with the last time I came through Akrotiri - 55 Minutes to get out of the terminal.******

£400 but I got £600 back thanks to their incompetance in handling the compo claim and then their not believing me when I told them they had paid me £300 twice:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I flew with XL to/from Tenerife last year and had absolutely no complaints. Just like BJW, we landed and were in a taxi on the way to the hotel in record time.

I don't think this will be the last tour operator/budget airline to go bust in the next 12 months as people save their money and travel less.

According to Sky news Ruth Kelly said "The government has been in talks and is ready to provide the CAA with operational assistance to assist in the recovery of PAX if needed" Does that imply us ?

Did a bit of digging and yes it is the same company XL Leisure that took over a number of NAAFI's a few years ago not sure of the current situation but could be interesting

And their majority shareholders, Air Atlanta Icelandic with 76%, did the FI run in 05 when I went out there. Not sure how much of a knock on effect this will have. At least they should be able to provide some sort of pax flights if the worst comes to the worst.

Off Topic That takes the biscuit. I'd be hacked off if that happened to me.

Well its standard tactics now you are not there to defend your rights but I accept it cause there is nobody left now and as engineers we are the biggest squadrons on camp now so its only fair that we provide 80% of manpower. Only problem now is we cannot give that as numbers are so dwindling and to me this is my last straw, pension or nothing Ill do this one but if i get nobbed for one more im going to play my stress card and threaten to shoot everyone that comes through the gate as there is hundreds of people that are not doing there fair share of duty and I have had enough , i do my share OOA I count 154 days in last 18 months and another 2 weeks of gate guard nice one

we have famous sayings like testing your resolve, man up , its life in a blue suit , get on with it , stop moaning, your gay,its the air force not the fair force etc etc etc etc

They just keep you going and get you through hard times,

Im at a low today and just needed to get that off my chest, ill do what im told and thats what we all accept while we get paid .
