Who would you give a kidney to?

Given the resilience of the human body it is quite happy to function with only one kidney.

So would you donated one to someone other that a member of your family, maybe a good friend or if it was possible would you sell it for 20 grand?

I have to say yes I would but never for money.

I am down as a full body donor in the event of my death, in other words any part of my body may be used. Now for me it also means that if I could feasibly continue life without hardship or by causing myself any physical distress by donation whilst alive and could save a life, then yes.

As long as it didn't go to some tw@t like George Best, but that's the risk you take.

Depends... If it was lost through illness then maybe... If they got p1ssed all the time then no.

Personal choice I wouldn't consider being a donor or recipient.

Before any of you start gobbing off I have already refused the option of corneal transplants.

Both my kids and my Mrs carry donor cars and of course I'd respect their decisions but as far as I'm concerned it is a total non starter.

I agree that it sounds like a really nice thing to do but just imagine if you gave one away and then yours packs in – then you’re right in the sh1t. There aren’t many body parts we have spares of although there are a couple we don’t need (tonsils, appendix) so personally, other than family members requirements, I will be keeping my bits.

When I die, the shell of body I abused for hopefully 100 years can be cut up and shared out with pleasure. What’s left after that can be used as pet food for all I care

Well if they can find any use for any bits of me when Im gone they can have the bloody lot as far as Im concerned, its not like Im going to need it anymore! I definately think they should bring in the 'opt out' register.

Incidently, if a family member or close friend needed one of my kidneys or they would die I would whip it out without a second thought!!!

I can't say I'd be able to easily give up any organs of mine. But if it were a case of giving my life to save someone I deeply cared about, then that is much more of a likelyhood. :pDT_Xtremez_09:

I mentioned this thread to a medical friend of mine. He said he'd gladly take a kidney or two for a fee. He said he had some steak and pastry to go with them. If you're interested I'll put you in contact with Dr Lecter no problem.:pDT_Xtremez_14:

My kidneys are too pickled to be of use...lol

Being as my 2nd son had a kidney removed when he was just 18 months old, my 'spare' kidney is reserved for him if we are a good enough match if the time ever came..
