Saw the results through the ACOS website today:

72 in field - initial quota of 16.

A Grades - 18
B Grades - Nil
C Grades - 54

So I'm guessing that if you've got the seniority then you're almost nailed on for promotion this year.

Is that good for our trade having little or no competition for the ultimate promotion?

its been that way for a while, i think a few years ago they promoted FSs without the full seniority

you could be 17 and 18 on the board and miss out i suppose

Not really surprising given recent events: more selected for CWO scheme, more filling SO3 posts, etc etc means more vacancies. It's been like that for a while so there are fewer and fewer FS with full seniority.

A huge shortage at Admin JO level in tandem with the PSBs (all trades) being instructed to look at proven performers (regardless of seniority) means quicker promotion for some. I am certainly not complaining. :pDT_Xtremez_28:

Get yer finger out and do a proper job or have you started speaking Polish:pDT_Xtremez_28:.

Trust the little chap is in line but I don,t think Cranwell stock Wobbly suits that small.

Negative Ghost Rider - not selected!! His replacement is fecking good though!!

Get you mirror, mirror on the wall. Trust he left his pretend rank slides in the draw for you. Just keep out of the Cafe now you,ve moved from the Coffee Bar or you will be too fat for your next uniform.

I hear that it has not gone down too well and one guy is even putting in a complaint! Seniority doesn't seem to count for much apparently.
President reports seem to often mention doing more than one job, therefore showing you are versitile....unless you are a CM of course where you can do one job and be promoted.....seems a bit unfair to me.

Shimmer a couple of points if I may:

1. I am curious as to what you have heard in regard to "one guy" complaining about the PSB. What do you think the basis for such a complaint would be? "A couple of C grades got promoted and I have full seniority and didn't".

2. Bit of a sweeping statement re CMs; I can think of 2 on the PSB whom you describe, each one in my humble opinion, worthy of the promotion. Have you ever done the job? I have and it's not easy.

Regardless of either opinion the promotion selection process is fair, equitable and most importantly visible to those who require it to be so. No matter what trade or at what rank PSB selections will always p*ss someone off.

All I have heard is what I said. Dunno who it is although I understand it revolves around what I said - he/she has done a few jobs as a FS and comes nowhere near...a CM does one job and well.......

I understand being a CM is a difficult job and one which I would not want to do. However, there are some equally demanding jobs also. Most of the people I have talked to over the years outside of being a CM or at Innsworth/HW are disgruntled as there seems to be a hell of a lot of weight in their F6442/F6000/SJAR when it comes to a PB.

So I fully understand that people get pi$$ed off when apparently overlooked for promotion - I feel I have been overlooked too for quite some time! but then again I have been in the same job for a few years which suits my personal circumstances and there are more important things than promotion in my eyes anyway. If it comes then great if not then I will continue to do my best at my current rank. Plus if people think the only way to get promotion is to become a CM then they are actually wrong although it does seem to help in a few cases, in any case they could go and do the job!!!
