I have just driven back from Scotland and the fuel prices there seem to be in a different league to England. There is a price war begining and it was down to £1.19 per litre, I arrived back at a large West Mids training to see that it was still £1.39 per liter. Anyone ese noticed the huge price inbalance???

I am assuming you mean the garage just outside said training establishment.
The prices over in Lincs are all around £1.19/Litre for Deisel and around £1.10 for unleaded i think (i dont use petrol though so could be wrong)
Its probably just that garage ripping service people off still

I got some yesterday @ £108.9.

It seems to be going in the right direction, at last.

I know that petrol station is a bit of a rip off, but surely these prices are just a wee bit excessive.

I filled up on friday in Lincs at that price, although it seems to average around £1.12 ish. Further south it seems to average around £1.16 per litre.

The oil giants are ripping the British public off still. From its high oil has dropped by $30 and this should lead to a 30 pence drop in the price of petrol at the pumps. We in the UK have the cheapest petrol and diesel prices in Europe. Then the Government add their stinging taxes to makes us the most expensive. Maybe this government should consider bringing back the fuel duty escalator to help out the drivers who are suffering as a result of high oil prices.

Not only is your maths way out, The Fake Slim Shady, but you evidently have no understanding of the fuel duty escalator as it applied in the 1990s.

I was very happy to see petrol down to 109.9p yesterday but I'm not changing my new habits. I now only use my car for journeys of more than 2 miles, otherwise I walk or cycle.

WTF???

Is it the "oil giants" or the Government... make up your mind RSS...

As for re-introducing the fuel duty escalator... well that was NEVER introduced or retained to "help out the drivers who are suffering as a result of high oil prices". Quite the opposite, the escalator was introduced in 1993 as a measure (allegedly) to stem the increase in pollution from road transport and cut the need for new road building which was then a politically sensitive hot potato. Oddly enough, the escalator also resulted in significant increases in revenue for the Treasury. Re-introducing it would only satisfy G Broon and that ****** Darling!

Finally, where did you get your data that UK has the cheapest petrol and diesel prices in Europe?

Try http://www.aaroadwatch.ie/eupetrolprices/

According to the AA last month the UK was more expensive than Austria, Greece, Luxembourg, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Switzerland.

In France the price is similar.

UK price was, however, cheaper than Belgium, Finland, Germany, Netherlands and Italy.

What p!sses me right off, is that the yanks are biatching about the price of fuel, whilst they are paying USD4 per gallon. Thats about £2.14p or £0.47p per litre.

That gets right up my nose.

While over there in Feb they were bitching about the high cost of gas and the fact that a gallon of milk cost more than a gallon of gas.

Sainsburys Chippenham a few days back before going to Wales £1.16p for unleaded.

Sainsburys Swansea yesterday before coming home £1.08p. How the fcuk can the same company charge a difference of 8p per litre?
