Well firstly they need a navy to get to the falklands.

Secondly they need a capable army to capture and hold the islands

Thirdly they need an air force to cover the above two stages.

They have none, so who cares!

Looks like our Islands in the South Atlantic could be under threat again.

The Argentines have rattled sabres ever since their 1982 defeat, but I fear that soon, they may start acting on their beliefs.

This article talks about possible Argentine deployments into Antartic areas.

Talk Wrench

They know we are heavily committed elsewhere at the moment, but I imagine the sabres will be re-sheathed once the Typhoon gets down there.
They may talk big, but they have nothing to touch those little tinkers.
They had a bit of argy bargy a couple of years ago too, nothing came of that either.
All mouth and no trousers this lot. :pDT_Xtremez_42:

Politics in South America, like the UK and US, often depends upon distraction policies to take the heat out of contentious decisions. Worth noting is that the Argentinean parliament passed a new law concerning the taxing of farms recently. Farmers there are up in arms protesting about unfair taxes/demands. They have resorted to road blocks and worse. Lorry drivers have come out in their own protests and this has meant spoilt produce arriving at ports for export. Argentina has relied on its meat (and soya & grain) exports for a long time and farmers are being told to pay up to 50% of their income to the government. On Tuesday the President (Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, wife of the last president.) took over the radio and television to make a broadcast trying to keep control. Mentioning something that takes the headlines away from domestic issues is an age old tactic. Labour do it, why shouldn't Argentina? As for Antarctica; Argentina has a permanent presence there, as does Chile. The only organisations that can reach the "Ice" (apart from The British Antarctic Survey) reliably are military. The septics use their Airforce as do the Kiwis...I wouldn't worry just yet.

PS. Am off to Argentina in two weeks for a quick jaunt, and I will ask around the bars in BA if there is a strong feeling about this...

This is all gleaned from the Peruvian press/TV, so it may be no better than our own "free" press! And I have had to translate...

We have heard this before, but lets face it the Onion Bargie's economy is in no fit state to finance another invasion. Mind you the way Gordon is going we wont be able to finance the defence of the islands much longer. Besides let them have the FI's back, its s**t hole anyway.

You might think they are a sh1thole but where would you rather spend 4 months OOA, FI or Iraq??

Every time thier country looks as if it's on its ar$e they always talk about reclaiming the FI's. They know its an emotive subject for the population so as pob said it distracts them from the real world for a short while.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't but a more important question is:

Would you nail their president?
