What alot of crap, we are still 2 different trade you baffoon...CIS Techs and IM's there is no joint board until the dizzy height of Flt Sgt not something you'll have to worry about.......

Let's remember that the correct abbreviation for Flt Sgt is FS!

But as you said, don't worry about getting that far down the pan.:pDT_Xtremez_28:

Have we not all gone off Topic just a bit?

Im sure that this thread was about the Cpl - Sgt Promotion board for peanuts

1. If your not a Peanut get out of our Forum (where are the Mods when you want them?)

2. If you want a fight, im sure that there is a Forum called Fight club, please use it.

OK, does anyone have anything valid to add about the the CIS IM Cpl-Sgt promotion board?

Meathead,

Latest gen from not so sunny Ulster, If you are an JNCO in coming up to time up etc.. sign of for continuance of service, they are accepting this at the moment... IF you have come off of the board then again if you are near time up apply for continuance and at the mo it looks like they will sign you on for an extra 1 year. In 6 months after that apply again for continuance if you have not been promoted.

Promotion is non starter, they are looking at "Low double figures to promote"

Recruitment is nil 78 people accepted for basic training out of 200 required... (work out the knock on effect up the ranks etc..)

Need more then PM me...

Zofo

By the way Cis Tech is a non starter i am afraid, seems to be a bit of a money saver to put an OM in a Cis Tech job according to what has been said...

Preparing for incoming off of the techs:S

It seems the low level of recruitment is stopping the promotion as Cpl IM is at around 84% manned and SGT IM is around 80% but doesnt look like they will promote people due to lack of numbers at the OM level .

speccyteccy,

Would seem your last post has hit the nail on the head, quite a few slots for IMs etc but no OM's to fill them when they are promoted.

It seems the low level of recruitment is stopping the promotion .

Ive posted this previously, but i think it was in a recruiting thread (i think?)

I am a CIS IM, currently working in the wonderful world of recruiting

The problem that we are experiencing with the recruiting side of things is during the Apptitude Testing. (I should point out that this is my view and not the Careers Information Service as a whole)

The ones who come in and say 'I want CIS OM' invariably score nowhere near enough on the test.

The ones who come in and say 'I dont know what I want' but score in the techie region, almost always choose AMM/Gen Tech.

Interested to how this is viewed with relation to this thread

OK, a little off the topic, but it does bear relation to the current promotion problems within the CIS Trades.

From a new recruits point of view, they are joining a Technical Trade in which they can choose a specialisation later on down the track. Quite honestly, in a few years time you will get the question what was a TCC or an Eng Tech EL??

Lowering the score would open the door to more potential CIS OMs, but then is it quality or quantity that we want??? Sounds like a decision that needs to be taken above my payband.

In a reply to your last Meathead, I can only speculate that they are going to make the OM a Techie trade.. but I am afraid without the pay.. They are not going to lower the entrance limits.. and If I was leaving school with the 5 (or is it 6 GCSE's ) required for our trade now I certainly would not look towards this career path. Gone are the days when we joined up with bu**er all on our School Report...

It's all down to money, which we know for a fact the MOD/GOV will not be prepared to shell out.. Sorry

Righto, this is my last bit on this as Im aware ive strayed from the original topic, of which i have an interest as i havecome off the board. (Insert big, annoyed, why is the mob screwing me over, sigh here!!)

CIS OM are classed as tech trade already, and rightly so in my opinion!! (Commcens are gone, ICT is here) Without going into Apptitude test scores, it is grouped with the 'tech' trades and the scores are very similar compared with traditional techie jobs. (This information is freely available on the RAF intranet, its just knowing where to look)

With regard to education - if you have Eng + Maths and either science or ICT at Grade C you are classed as qualified and therefore the AST score required is a little lower than an applicant who does not have the quals (hope that makes sense)

Ive said it before and no doubt I will say it again, we need to look past TCO/Eng Tech EL as this will mean nothing to the future generation of CIS Specialists.

OK. Back on Topic (at last). I came off the board and am none to happy about all the storys doing the rounds. Whoever is responsible for the debacle needs to get a grip pronto. I have for the first time in my career found myself looking at house prices/jobs where i eventually want to settle. Im now considering doing this without a pension......FFS, screwed over and they have left me in recruiting LOL!

Looks like the story from the desk of releasing numbers 1-7 was another pack of lies, does anyone know what is going on with this promotion board. Just don’t understand why they make statements like "should defanatly be releasing numbers 1-7 this week" and then nothing. This is really doing my f*&king Swede in now! (pardon the French)

Has any one got any news about the release of the first 7 and when it is going to be?

Heard from the desk yesterday that the first 7 have been released and there won't be many more.

Oh well, only 24 working days to go so at least I have the pension to look forward to!
