Future.

Future.

Disagree.

There are plenty of jobs out there. The future is only as bright as you want it to be. Just because you cannot see them directly doesnt mean they are not there local/overseas.

**Typical Forces attitude**

I have posted plenty of contract opps on this site (with contact details for the relevant role) aimed specifically at TG3 trained bods.

For example: Network Rail UK are looking for contractors to work on the GSM -R network rollout/support/maintenance aimed more for commissioning7integration of sites (eqpt vendor is Alcatel) and I believe that eqpt vendor training will be given. I would expect these roles to pay around 35-37K a year.

I have posted the role/contact details on the site a while back.

It boils down to if your willing/ good then you will find the jobs, also if your good at what you do, then temp roles generally turn into very long contracts.

Bored

Bored

I am bored of people who are going to PVR to teach the RAF a lesson.
I am bored of people who are going to leave and get a 40K job cos they have worked on a helpdesk.
I am bored of SACs who are upset they haven't got their tapes after 5 yrs out of training.
I am bored of people posting great job oportunites.

There will be people leaving, there will be spaces for promotion and there are some good jobs out there.

I used to be too involved with work to worry about stuff. Now I sit all day clicking buttons on a mouse and thinking..."I'm bored"

I am off to break something......so i can fix it!

Update

Update

Attempted to go to the brief but due to a mass turn out, was not let in and informed that Flt Cdrs will feed the info down the chain.

Also today RAF Leeming had the same brief.

There was about 40 techs and 8 Ops, after speaking to a tech that attended

Tech said that they where being encouraged to re-muster but it wasnt very clear and left very confused, and that leaflets will be handed out explaining what options you can take for your future.

If I get hold of one, I will seek advice wether I can upload it here!

Dear all
Have been given this gem just before leaving work this afternoon. This is straight from the trade sponsors mouth. Tg 4 Cis techs whose mannng is currently at aprox 2,000 is to be reduced (over an undislosed time scale) to around 200, thats a 90% reduction in our manpower. We were not told how this reduction is to take place but the educated among us (that should be all of us) can deduce that some will transfer across to the IM's (who are undermanned) others will go through natural wastage (time served and pvr) and if by the time that the reduction should have taken place we stll ahve too many then expect redundancies. This is just an educated asumption, but it is what happened the last time we had to "downsize". By the way the trade sponsor and the Pma personnel were booed as they entered for this brief, and after being told the good news several people walked out of the meeting. So for all those out there who are as fed up with this situation as myself and the other Tg4 people in my section you are not alone in your feelings. But this is the modern airforce labour cutbacks. My sugestion is have a plan if you aint got one get one and stick to it and look after NO#1 pr in my case NO#'s 1,2,3 and 4.

Looking after number 1 is always a prudent move... I'm not in work till next week, but I tell ya, when I go back, I won't be doing fcuk all till I'm out. To think ACOS manning or whoever are going on about morale (I had to look that up) well, lets just say I wish we could strike, and I will be looking for a copy of my contract... pretty sure I was promised a career...

vague gen given at some brief!

vague gen given at some brief!

Calm down dears!:pDT_Xtremez_15:

Right, i'll fill you all in as best I can (not kick you in.....although......nah.....!) I'm on the wing and we were lucky enough to get a fairly honest brief from trade sponsor Wg Co and basically he said that :

SAC Tech 140% manned
SAC OM 85%ish manned

Think that Cpl IM spaces need filling, think they are at 80%ish manned and techs are fully manned. Think trend follows through Sgts. FS and WO 100% filled.

Problem is, TG4 only recruited 39% of quota this year and so there isn't enough guys coming in to take over as SAC's as the future to allow the guys to go through and take over the cpls who are getting pomoted to sgt,etc

So problem lies in the recruitment. Get out there and kidnap some young uns and force them thru training......kidding!

Hope this is of some help?

I work in the AFCO World, the problem we are having is the ones who come in and want CIS OM score nowhere near it on the test.

The chaps and chapesses who come in not really knowing what they want and do score for it, when faced with the job options available, almost always plump for AMM or one of the Gen Tech jobs.

Just thought some of you might be interested?

Todays briefing at Leeming

Todays briefing at Leeming

ok dokey folks here it is straight from the Trade Sponsors & OC 90 SU's mouth:

THIS BRIEF WENT OUT TODAY 21 NOV apparently with no SPIN, but still somehow stunk of S*I*,

AC's = 73% MANNED

SAC OM = 85% MANNED
CPL/SGT IM = 83% MANNED

CIS TECH = 115% MANNED
CPL/SGT CIS TECH = 108% MANNED

FLT SGT's & WO'S = who cares!

61 WO's guaranteed to leave between now and 2013, so promotion is not going to stop, slow down yes, but that was a no brainer, we could never continue to promote at the rate we have over the last 6 years in both tg3 and tg11.

The trade sponsor is also looking at extending SAC's up to 22 yrs!

Anybody who feels they will be affected by the slow down in promotion is to contact A6 CISMST via their chain of command. HUH! Right!

We also asked why they dont offer CPL's LOS30. There is a possibility of that happening, just so we can keep the 16/20 yrs CPL's we have now, so that we dont lose all the experience and they still have time to pick up their third.

Recruitment is at an all time low for TG4, only 39% of the recruits required joined up last year. APPARENTLY NOBODY UNDERSTANDS WHY - £13K a year Thats why!

So in summary, if you thought you were going to be promoted to CPL in the next 1 to 4 years tough! best you start shooting your oppo's.

If you thought you were an IM CPL waiting for SGT, hahaha even tougher, but trickle promotion still offers a little hope, just hope you suck real good!

If you thought you were a CIS TECH CPL waiting for SGT, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah,
the peanuts have their revenge for all the years of crap they put up from TG3.
Time to get the MCSE or CISCO course and head out the door!

I know OC 90 SU reads the goat and should be aware we are not pleased at a 100 watt light bulb being put at the end of a tunnel that will take us 5 years to walk down.

IF OC 90 THINKS IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO STAY ON TCW FOR 5 YEARS AND WAIT FOR PROMOTION LETS SEE HIM STAY A GROUP CAPTAIN AND AS OC 90 SU. I THINK NOT!

I seriously doubt their is an officer in the RAF that has waited over 5 years for promotion.

We dont need to be patronised, try and treat us like adults and not mushrooms,
WE ARE FED UP BEING FED CRAP AND KEPT IN THE DARK!

Who watching

Who watching

"The Totally Unofficial Royal Air Force Rumour Network"

There are many high rankers watching this thread and it has open some eyes on what other ranks are thinking about the out come of what is happening.

I have said this due to e-goat being brought up in the briefs and certain ranks being asked to sign up and read this thread.

If you know the truth about TG4 future please could you inform us with genuine information?

!I think we will have to make a summary of all the gen that we have gathered!

I like a laugh as much as the rest of them mate, just pruning the thread down so that it is (almost) around the original topic. Quite a few of the TG4 bods are going to want to read it to get some gen, and there was a LOT of sh1te in here that had no relevance at all.
Challenge away.::p: :pDT_Xtremez_31:

Sorry

Sorry

Sorry T93 I am sure you are trying to help, I am old school and would prefer them to make the trade work, rather than us all jump ship.

I have looked at the careers site and found a few gems.
Apart from CIS specialist not being under the Engineering trades making me even more bitter and twisted. I assume it was one of these who came up with the latest policy?

Name: Phil Brooker

‘The Air Force is an organisation that rewards you with progression – whether that's through promotion, education, new work environments or travel.’
I guess I got travel?

‘I joined the Air Force from school and spent four years as an airman. That’s where I learnt my trade. By the time I graduated as an officer, I’d been in the RAF 11 years – seven of which I’d spent in training.

‘I got an HNC in aerospace engineering as an apprentice, and in 1995 I was selected for a cadetship, so I went to the Royal Military College of Science and did a degree in electrical engineering.

‘Following that I did Initial Officer Training and Engineer Officer Training and then went on to my first tour as an Engineer Officer. The Air Force has since sponsored me to do an MSc in defence logistics management. That’s been part time over the past few years.’
Value for TAX payers money?

gentlemen please.

gentlemen please.

Mug: No worries mate. I am old school as well & im not trying to advocate that you all jump overboard. I have mentioned before in another area that I think the RAF is great & can work well & will if left to the boys and girls on the coalface.

MC: My apologies. Im not trying to hijack the topic...honest. You are correct I have no knowledge of TG4, but I do believe that TG3 and TG11 cannot be amalgamated. I dont want to go into the "real" tech & "plastic" tech blather. Each and every one of you lads/lasses are professionals (at least I hope so):S

All: Good luck for the future. In whatever shape/form that comes in. I wish you all the best.

Esp TG3 boys :pDT_Xtremez_15: Sorry sorry. Couldnt resist that.

speccytechy dont be an a**, is there anybody (in tg 3, 4 or 11) that is seriously happy about manning a helpdesk or fixing printers. We were also on the high pay band at CPL level until pay 2000 stuffed it up and you could no more run a commcen than i could fix a watchman. There is commonality between the old trades, i know, 3 tours at 3 ranks on tcw, we will always be able to cover each others as*es, but there is still specilisation in each trade, hence cis tech and om. and if you wanna go IM, jump for it, better promotion, same posting, same pay, less work....... like you say it aint rocket science!

Hands up all those with 4 or less years to do in the mob! :pDT_Xtremez_28:

I don't want to sound gash, I am (or was) very professional whilst the illusion of a career was there, now, all I can think of is what I get take from the RAF before jump ship. Anyone else feel the same?
