Heres something I'm proud we share.................
" A vetran--whether active duty , retired ;or reserve--is someone who , at one point in their life , wrote a blank checkmade payable to " Great Britain", for any amount---"up to and including their life". "That is honour, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it."

I have to say that is the best description of a veteran that I've ever seen, absolutely spot on!:pDT_Xtremez_19:

I tell you something else you can be proud of mate and that is your country's attitude to it's servicemen and veterans. I get better treatment, rates in hotels and get more respect in hotels, restaurants etc when they spot my veterans badge and show my British Legion membership card in America than I do here in my own country.

Agree with all the above plus a free badge saying HM Forces Veteran like what I have got to top it off:pDT_Xtremez_19:

Yep like GM and theladf I have my veterans badge, but agree with GM on the response in this country. In fact depending on where I am going I have removed my badges as it would probably cause a few problems.

Gem, I agree that our government, with all it's warts, and we do have some, and the thumps we take from the rest of the world, and some are justified, takes quite good care of our service people and vetrans. My american Legion card works the same as yours. There are a lot of discounts to be had for the asking. Thanks for serving!

This might be a silly question, but If I dont ask then it's going to bug me.

I fall into this bracket with the dates, but I am still a serving member of the RAF.

Can I apply for the badge.

Studley :pDT_Xtremez_35:

As Rikster said...No....I applied even though still serving and stating that i was out feb 08...still said they couldn't give me it....apply the day after and it will be fine.

I'm sure i will after i break through the drunken haze of celebrating the end of this chapter of my life.

Crack on.................:pDT_Xtremez_09:
