After a phonecall from my sister the other day, I will be doing the Saturday at Chelmsford. The lineup pretty much totally sucks, but the only reason I will be there is for the Foo Fighters.
I will probably check out Jet and Ocean Colour Scene and maybe go to throw stuff at that ****** from Babyshambles (but that might make him think he's worth something). So I will just be mostly getting drunk and watching the few worthwhile bands they do have there.

Must admit that the Saturday line up is pants. Will hopefully get wellied in the baking sun and wander around doing lots of bird watching!!!!!
Snow Patrol seem to be the best act on, not a great fan of the Foos but will hang around to watch them anyway.

Sundays line up is much better and Mrs Stingray and I have already argued about who/what/when to see!!!!

For my money, the Sunday lineup is even worse than the Saturday.
The sole reason I am going is to watch the Foo's, one of the finest live bands going at the moment.
If I wanted to listen to Snow Patrol, then the local supermarket may be a more apt location for listening to their droning pap.

These days, with so many festivals all trying to get hundreds of bands to play, there is bound to be some rubbish in there, but V festival seems to have more than the lions share this year.

The Foos are the only band on the entire lineup that I would actually pay to watch live.

Just a quick ditty to say that V was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!
despite the weather being pooey and some annoying chav gits spoiling it a bit, the bands were great and the peeps around us in the campsite were gems.
The most suprising thing for me was that Pink is a great entertainer!! We went to see her after The Fray were SOOOOOOO crap.
Best band was of course The Killers, but great sets by The Editors, The Hours Captain, Lily Allen, The Proclaimers!!!, Snow Patrol made this a weekend to remember!!!!
Hopefully will get a few mates to come along next year, but Reading and Leeds have something to live up to after this......hope all that go have better waether than what we did!!!!!!!:pDT_Xtremez_30:

My location is Chelmsford, please read it and confirm if otherwise, my country is Scotland, land of my birth with 10 paternal and maternal generations born and lived within 10 miles of Edinburgh.

Time to practice national anthem for the England Vs Germany match tonight

Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles !!!!!!!!!!!!

And on Saturday night I could hear the V festival quite clearly even though I live at the northern extremities of the county town of Essex.

Sarcasm noted.

Bands too new for my liking, last saw the Who in May.
Proclaimers are a favourite amongst us Hibs supporters though.
Glad you enjoyed it, it always rains on V festival weekend though.

It rained on and off at Reading when I went...P!ssed me off so much that by the Sunday afternoon the boy Fuego was seen shoving his tent in the boot of the car then disappearing off into Reading town centre for a swankyish hotel, bath then a cheeky ruby mit beers...I was only missing slipknot I think so a good call in my books..

I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend, from a personal point of view, and only doing the Saturday in Chelmsford, it was probably the worst festival I have ever been to.

The only bands of any note that I saw there were the Foo Fighters (obviously) who were good enought to play 2 sets during the day (one acoustic and one full on rocking set), Ocean Colour Scene (who should have been on one of the big stages and not hidden in a tent) and Jet. the rest of what I saw (the Thrills, The Fray, Dizzee Rascal(by mistake), Happy Mondays and the tail end of Snow Patrol) were utter, utter rubbish.

The whole setup of the festival with 2 big outdoor stages is good, but some worthwhile bands to fill them would be useful, but V festival is honestly a festival for your average chav, pop music fan, and as such, I would say that the Foo Fighters were far too good for the rest of the lineup.

They could also consider getting some more toilets in future, I have never seen a festival in my life where the queues have been so long for them. Fortunately us blokes can just p1ss up a fence or tree anywhere, but the queues for the girls were almost an hour long.

All in all, a poor excuse for a festival, and not a patch on Leeds/Reading or Download festivals.

BTW, did I mention the Foo Fighters were fooking awesome and made the whole day worthwhile :)
