OOA strategy? You sure we have one? Other than repeatedly shafting the same people that go OOA every year and aren't in the UK long enough to fight their case. But hey, every cloud and all that - another couple of months and I qualify for citizenship in a whole raft of Middle Eastern countries with lower tax rates than we have here!

As for us running the NICs / OISGs - I wouldn't complain too much about that. We might actually get something useful out of them now rather than the usual whining and bleating we get from some jumped up baby army officer who has watched one too many Bond films.

And as for the badges, I think we should have a badge that matches whatever DPM you happen to be wearing at the time, but with a narrow black horizontal bar about 3/4 of the way up .... after all, wouldn't want people to work out who we are!:pDT_Xtremez_08:

All, Oats here with a random thought or two. Like the ideas from Marshall wrt the Conf. I hope they get taken on. Heard some gossip which I am prob the last to know anyway but some good promotions and postings for the higher ups. A few more Gp Capts which is nice. Still doesnt help the OOA situation does it.

I would add to Marshall'c omments and suggest that we get a few more NCOs OOA to replace the OF2s. ALthough we had have to have them to send in the first place first - what are the 'C's doing now by the way!?

Nice of the new desky to take an interest and offer to do chats at the conf, hope he isnt a ?@~% like the last one, did I miss his goodbye party?

See you all at the conf, yes CoS I am one of those who attends. Come and have a beer - I'll even buy you one. It will be interesting to see who OC @*&% tries to trap when he's drunk if nothing else - Bring a camera.

MRAF will not be attending the big bosh gang bang... Teaching....

Please make sure my questions are asked! It effects us all, not just me at the production end. If the rest of you want to move on and get posted, we need some new bods in the front door!
And if you think we Ossifers have it bad, we do, but its nothing compared to the scale of the trade...

We Urgently need some serious recruiting going on! All of us need to spread the word... They are just not coming in the door, or if they are they are being convinced to be Computer Techies or some blah... We have only small numbers to recruit compared to the uber trades but as a percentage - we are the 2nd worse off...

We are waiting to teach them phase 2, the phase 3 schools, Jay Ess Pee Eiiiii etc have the are waiting for the next batch ... But we have yet to fill all our seats! NB: The last of the old skool plotters finished early doors oh six. Since then, we will have added around 17 to the mixer! – And don’t forget they are neither I or C yet… So at best half it per Specialisation!

They need to crack on or else its gonna hurt in a year or so - who will man the lovely new bits of kit?

Without sounding w@nky, we need to do some serious promotion for the first time ever! We need exposure, air shows and the like. Deploy the RICs and tac units etc... I know they are all maxed and busy, but if they don't show the punchier side to the youngsters and pro-actively promote the trade, they aren't gonna get anyone to fill the spaces that they so desperately need!

Spread the word is my word! We all need to get involved, or else don't come crying to me when the cupboard is empty!

Wot no DMBLBIT???

DMBLBIT - wots with the rumour that you've chickened out of the Conference?

The source I heard it from made some comment about you being affraid of the 'after dinner drinks', but I'm sure that can't be the reason . . . . . can it?? :pDT_Xtremez_17:

:pDT_Xtremez_33:

Same old blah - too many OOA, and we're getting more, not enough people, no recruits (website might be updated - see previous thread about 3 years ago!). Promotion is average in the OSB, for those of you that have done well . . . . .etc

Oh, and there was a suggestion tha we sould get lanyards as opposed to badges to bring us closer to the Int Corps as we're doing their work for them . . . . . :pDT_Xtremez_15:

Branch Conference

Branch Conference

I heard it was a good excuse for some finger pointing at senior officers.

Also a good place to get drunk and buy port for leaving the dinner table.

No rumpy-pumpy by the sounds of it.

A bit of sharking!

And lots of swearing and yey-harring saying how good the branch was.

How will I get over the fact I missed it??? :pDT_Xtremez_27:

Lanyards eh! Just see it now, takes me back to my days in the ATC and seeing all those Cadet Warrant Officers strutting round with their lanyards hanging off their shirts/wooly pulleys ahh those were the days.

do not really want to see a return to that. Can you imagine the chaos in the messes, there wil be ATC all over the place, and the P£$$ taking, gawd 'elp us, surely after two days on the G&T's you could have come up with something better?

Will those of us who work for a living se any results from this conference or will it be as bad as the trade jamboree that was recently held?:pDT_Xtremez_28:

Surely better to have a trade get together round beers and food...better solutions would evolve and with honest opinions thrown to people likely to listen to them. Till we all got to drunk and start throwing people out of windows, although that's been proven to improve moral!:pDT_Xtremez_28:

Believe it or not- I was all a bit too busy to spare a few days (as I have zero staff and seem to be a one armed paper hanger..)
As per tradition I believed I got stabbed in the back by a member of the brethern - who was incidentally massively out of line! I will be dealing with him later!
Havent heard much though...TIW are great and the Welsh man was crawling on teh floor.....did I miss much?

Well another conference over, wasn't it nice. All I have to look forward to now for this year is the ever present threat of an OOA (6 months now it seems) and a skiing trip - by the way I heard they are great fun, anyone know any good skiing trip stories?

Sorry Stella you missed out. Where were you by the way, we all missed you at the conf. In fact lots of you younger types were absent, a shame really. It' s always nice catching up on the gossip.

Recruiting

Recruiting

How many other people remember the issue raised on this site some 2-3 years ago ref the RAF website?

For those that don't remember have a look:

http://www.raf.mod.uk/careers/jobs/intelligenceofficer.cfm

I'm fairly sure that lots of people said it was out of date/not relevant/hardly appealing at that time.

So - following the theme at the conference - why, when we are now so short of people, hasn't the front page of our Branch been changed in the intervening period?

Just an idle thought . . . . :pDT_Xtremez_21:
