Just seen the above story. I can't believe this whole nonsense has come up again. A normal, everyday, muslim 12 year old girl, suddenly decides to make a stand, get dressed up as a ninja and fukc off the majority of citizens of this country by going through a court case likely to cost the taxpayer thousands of pounds just to try and prove a point. What's happening to the world?!?!?! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!::/: ::/: ::/:

If you come to our great nation you should live by our rules.

I wonder how I would get on claiming my human rights are being infringed next time one of the human coke bottles comes into the bank when I am there. I mean I get very scared not knowing if the person under the coke bottle disguise is a man/woman or terrorist/robber or has a gun.

Isn't it my human right to go out and not be scared?

On second thoughts I'll not bother because I am a member of that rare breed who has no human rights.

I am not a poof, I am white, I have 2 legs and 2 arms, I can see, I am a christian, I am male, I was born here as were my parents and grandparents, I speak English, have had an education, am not vegan, vegetarian or anorexic so of course I am not allowed to feel threatened or offended by anything, person or situation.

Rant off!

I'm assuming she is a British citizen. Are you advocating the removal of UK citizens rights just because of another countries lack of rights?

The problem as I see it is Human Right legislation being used for litigation that it was never intended for. I wonder...is life any better since this country adopted human right legislation??

But she's British!

Just read the article, for some reason your link didnt work. This works link.

It would be a shame if they got their own way because the council cant afford to defend itself in court.

I have to say though, I largely agree with your position - however legislation as it is makes it impossible to say "put up or shut up".

Just read the article and there's a few points that need pointing out here:
1. It's the girls father bringing starting legal proceedings, do you honestly think that a 12 year old child would really want to stand out in school by wearing the niqab, there are "only 100" muslims at her school, so I would suggest she'd stick out like the proverbial sore thumb, no kid enjoys that.
2.The school has already said that the muslim pupils can wear head scarves, in a previous thread on the goat I think it was pointed out by someone, forgotten who, that this was all the koran stipulated.
3. The girl joined the school in September and has not been to school since October, the article states "She has had some tuition at home." This is her parents failing to provide an adequate education for their child, I thought there were rules and laws governing this sort of thing. Can her parents be taken to court for this and if they can why aren't they?
4. The law lords upheld a Luton schools banning of the jilbab and recently the muslim lady was told that she had to remove her veil if she wanted to continue working in a school as it made communication difficult, she lost her case for discrimmination I believe. This is the same reason the Buckinghamshire school have given for their refusal to allow the use of the niqab. Why are the school and the council so worried about taking it to court, if the courts have upheld two similar cases recently then they'd certainly be a good bet to win. As for the cost, if the parents lose the case then surely they should bear the brunt of the costs.
Metimee nowhere in the article does it say she's British.

Have a look at Iran, a very 'religious' country and a very muslim country. Yet women walk around in jeans, although they do cover their hair (or get a kicking off the muttawa). If they can do that there....

This pinnacle of the pink fluffy, PC, f@cked up society that we live in has reaffirmed my intention to submit a civvy GEMS. Along with the Drugs Czar(s) etc, I think we should have a Commonsense Csar. The post would be that of an intermediary where applications like the father's wish for a judicial review because he doesn't like the RULES already in place would pass by the Csar's desk. He(because I'm volunteering for the job) would then cast an eye over the application, judge it's merits and then issue a judgement. In this case it would be a swift "F@ck off!" and that would be an end to the matter, thereby saving the country many thousands (over a year, millions, I personally would work for f@ck all wage but a small percentage point royalty from the money saved) The uniform rules are there and that is that. Another example would be people clogging up the courts with (for instance) applications to adopt children into gay/lesbian households, judgement...Don't think so, how about the child's upbringing being 'normal'? How about convicted serial murderers* being let loose because some do-gooder committee has decide to give them a chance and 'haven't they been rehabilitated?' Bollox to that, throw away the key so there is a zero chance of them reoffending, who knows, it just might save someone's life! Anyway, prison should be about punishment as much as anything else(especially for serious crimes).*the same goes for kiddy fiddlers etc. The list could go and on but you get the picture. How many times do you pick up the paper only to read the headline and spit vitriol all over the place because you cannot believe what you are reading? A serious injection of commonsense (which isn't common nowadays) is needed, we could even have an advisory panel made up of Mums because let's face it, they are almost always right!. It could form part of a manifesto for a commonsense party.
rant off.

With you all the way mate. The country has gone off its tits and Britain is now out to please everyone that is either foreign or an offender. The normal law abiding tax payer is worse off than all these tw@ts.

Hang all the kiddy fiddlers and rapists. Take away all the luxury items in prisons leaving them with only a book, a bed and a bucket to pish in. They are there as a punishment but lots of them have Playstations, videos, dvd's, and study for degrees and such like. Fook them I say, they are there to be punished but this country lets them live the life of riley. Is this the way to stop them re-offending? Not ferkin likely.

What grips me most is the fact that these tossers are getting millions spent on them. We have old people treated like dossers and most of them can no longer afford to pay for their nursing homes and often have to sell their homes to fund it rather than leaving it to the kids.

A total mess imho.

Oh, I nearly forgot, come on Bungle Brown, look me in the eye and tell me you want me and my colleagues to pay the brunt for your f@ck ups and accept a 2% rise whilst you pocket 66 FFS! Czar says NO! F@ck off. You are not fit to polish a certain circa 200,000 uniformed patriot's boots!:pDT_Xtremez_25:

Make sure the book is the Bible, it has been a source of strength for anyone (Except Catholic gays who want to adopt :pDT_Xtremez_06: )
Give them a 7' x 4' cell with a bed a mattress and BLANKETS (No duvet's for scum) a toilet bowl and sink of their own. I would even allow a shower head in a tiled corner for them to shower. That's all. As wobbly said the old are living below the poverty line. You guys are sliding below the poverty line, yet our so called leaders are tapping themselves on the back and telling each other how great they are and having 66% ****** 's all of them they should (like us) only get paid when they are in work (the house of commons or lords) They should be paid minimum wage and their pay rises should be voted for each year by referendum. Let's see how many of them would stay in parliament then :pDT_Xtremez_25:

This was already in the press for the past year and more, a school girl in Luton wanted to wear the niqab at her high school even though it contraviened the school uniform policy. Here is the kicker the policy was agreed with the muslim community so it was acceptable. The Last article states that the house of lords ruled in favour of the school.

The main point here was there was 3 other schools in the area that would allow her to wear what she wished but she wouldn't got to them.

The point is the council should not back down just because of cost, they have a policy and it is designed for all not a minority that want to make a point.

Part of the problem is that the school is so strapped for cash that it has to decide whether to fight or invest it's money in books and equipment. Let her were her veil but make her parents pay for all the school equipment that their daughter would require for the rest of her school years.

It seems that if you have an issue with any public department these days all you have to do now is threaten to take them through the courts, they're all so strapped for cash they'll give in without a fight! Hmmmm, that gives me an idea, what's the defence budget?

How true this statement is. What is to come of this once great and mighty country. We all have the right to live in safety, regardless of what religion, colour, or creed, but how we achieve this, is beyond me.:pDT_Xtremez_21:

Harsh maybe but unfortunately i fear it may end up being like that in the future unless the Government and councils stand up to the audacious demands of the MINORITY.
I'm unsure of the figures but even with illegal immigrants, the number of muslims in the country is about 2.2 Million mark, that's in a country of 60 Million odd. You don't hear the Sihks, Hindus or Christians (who's morale principles this country was built on!) sounding off, demanding changes to come in line with their way of thinking.
This government seems to have given into the fear of not wanting to look un-PC and islamaphobic, some memebers of the Muslim community know this and has seized upon this, taking every opportunity to take the P1$$.

-*Disclaimer*-.
I would not consider myself racist, i don't think i am better than another person due to my race or skin colour, i am however very anxious about the state of immigration and "diversity"in this country.
If i let someone stay at my house as they we're in need of shelter etc and they then started taking advantage, moVing the furniture, re-tuning the radio, making a move on my gal, i'd throw them out. Charity starts at home and all that but people shouldn't then go and take the p1$$ with you?

.............AND RELAX......:pDT_Xtremez_34:
