Well thats it then. The end of cosford as we know it. To be honest I was not shocked. The stench of this being all politically motivated, is pretty strong. when I appeared at Cosford first. There were fitters who had just been posted out of saints. Most of them loved the social life. However they said the camp was acomplete **** hole. I have seen it once, and it looks bleak to say the least. I'm out anyway, so I will never pass through it's gates. Feel sorry for any new lads and lasses though, if there are any still in by that time.:pDT_Xtremez_08:

Cosford seemed like a badly run secondary school. with more civvies and course designers than courses...

A bit harsh but nearer the mark than some would like you believe

Is this going to make it even worse? Surely we can't afford to have any of our limited number wasting their time passing on their experience to us youngsters.

Yes, it will be a lot worse. Sure there will be some blue-suit instructors to maintain military ethos (absolutely vital IMHO), but the private partner will want to employ as few instructors as cheaply as it can get away with; its shareholders would be banging the boardroom table if it were any different.
You will inevitably end up with instructors who have simply been taught how to teach the course itself, no idea about the problems and issues you will face in the real world and ultimately no idea of the context in which what they are teaching fits. You will lose that little bit extra you get with the current civvy instructors who have all at some time, albeit in the dim and distant past in some cases, been there and done it themselves.
The partner will want to train as cheaply as possible, in the shortest time possible using the least kit possible. And guess boys and girls who will end up picking up the shortfall........:pDT_Xtremez_25:

I can't really be that bad, I mean the BBC think the goings on in the big bolloks house are far more news worthy. (note to self - Read your previous posts you stoopid cnut)

As for the staffing at sheep bummers r us, I think Cosford should be of more immediate concern. Just wait for the civilian teaching dudes to jump ship, that's going to leave a fcuking big hole with not enough blue suiters to cope. Where are they going to get the people to fill the posts? From the already overstretched squadrons? Perhaps they will find a use for the sick, lame and lazy who have no real experience as they have spent all their careers in the med centre. Whatever happens I apologise now for any dross that gets through but morale here is set to get even lower and the workload is going to increase with the upturn in training.

Poo liabour, you are just a bunch of bull$hitting cnuts who are single handedly running this once great nation into the ground. You have done more for the decimation of the health service than anyone could have imagined. You have fcuked over the armed forces at every opportunity. The only people who are making gains are the bone idle scroungers, illegals, criminals, pink fluffy leftie loonies, anyone willing to offer backhanders and those who's votes you are trying to buy. Come the revolution!!!!!!!

The buses go through regular and you can be on the M4 in 20 mins and on the severn bridge 35 mins later...The M50 will have you up to the M5 just South of Birmingham (J10) In about 1hr 15mins...

And your point is ????

It's funcking miles from anywhere. granted my 4 and a bit years there were ok but as a training establishment ............. SH!T !!!!

Location ............ Toss
Access................ Toss
People................ Toss
Vote inducing...... Excellent

And for my civvy comrades I am truly sorry, you have been sold out for political gain. Not that you need me to tell you that !! You (and you know who you are) do a superb job and I will always be happy to work along side you, I consider all of you as a fellow members of the RAF as I used to know it.

We as an organisation are going to lose some fantastic trainers and my best wishes go out to you guys and girls .......... better at saints ??

I think not..............

Fcuk off ............ Thick as mince bell ends like you are the real problem with the airforce.

What kind of small minded cnut thinks that they know it all and don't need training ?? You ? ........... probably not.

There are some quality guys here at Cosford, many of them would more than likely run rings round you, after almost 2 decades and 5 diffrent aircraft types I think I have earned the right as have others at Cosford to tell you to shut your fnucking mouth !!!!! ........... Don't you ??

From what I can remember of Lyneham before I left there were some right biffs still there. A certain fat useless Sgt who somehow got upgraded for IMLC then magically downgraded again. A skeletal leckie who tried to pull a sickie to get out of a desert det. Then there are those that really shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an aircraft. Those of you that have suffered, and still are suffering, cos the RAF don't have the balls to get rid have my sympathy.

I think you will find there are many fine and excellent people here at M54 J3 that are far from sick, lame and lazy so wind your ferkin neck in you cnut.

Having on both sides of the fence here at cosford, i was a student not long after we moved up from locking, the banter with the AC trades was brill, will always remember the hockey match with the choclate riggers not many goals were scored. Then there was the albrighton six and out banning from the village.
Now that i am back here perm staff, again there is still that good mixture of people. And for people that say that cosford is full of the sick and lazy within the RAF, they should go to the gym at a lunchtime and try to find a place to get changed. You cant its full of the "sick and Lazy" doing sport or just in the gym.

Hmm, looks like its taken a while for this to filter down since being decided sometime last year.
Unfortunately the main package for technical training is still forging ahead :pDT_Xtremez_25:
Trust me oh techie types currently bemoaning the standard of trainee coming out of Tossford, when these Metrix jokers get their hands on the trainset with all their fancy CBT with minimal hands on (expensive to maintain) aircraft and all civvy workforce - you aint seen nothing yet :pDT_Xtremez_06:

From the link

"Civilian staff should be able to transfer there after 2011"

Or alternatively I could not sell my house, not uproot my kids from school, not disrupt their education, not get the wife to pack her job in, not loose her income into the family and not move to South Wales. Choices choices.

CENTRAL?????? My rear portion!

CENTRAL?????? My rear portion!

Central to WHAT excactly? (Yeah, I know training centralised, not location)

This is what happens when they shut down places never thinking of just what they may be useful for in later years, they put kites into storage, but not stations!

Swinderby would have been PERFECT...and BLOODY CENTRAL TOO!

Centralise the training yes.......but send them all to Saints, I only thought you got sent there if you were already Welsh,You ****ed off your boss or You needed to drive for some reason

Fair do's!.... how many of use techies (Ex or otherwise) had to spend Friday & Sunday nights driving, travelling by train or bus?.....is it worth bogging off home for the weekend when you come from a different country?!

Halton was OK to get to and from...Cosford must have been even eaisier, but Siants?...hell, the only compensation is the one of the Sleaziest towns in the UK is just down the road...Barry is the hub of all naugtiness!!

They'll have to put a lean-to up at the 10 bells too, The Old Brewery (probably SFSG's unofficial Saturday night battleground) will be swamped with Rockapes,Para's and Bootnecks so no joy there, unless you wants "You's spine snapped".......

Ministry of Defence???? more like Ministry of Deference!!!!!!

The decision to locate all training at Saints had nothing to do with convenience, accessibility or common sense mate. It was purely political; Metrix dangled a massive carrot under Des Browne and New Labia's nose, the carrot of investment in S Wales to claw back some of the face that was lost due to the Dara debacle and to curry favour with the Welsh Assembly. Too big a carrot for them to resist I'm afraid.
It is intersting to note that the Welsh nationalists are generally not in favour of the planned defence college at St Athan. One of the reasons that they have given is that project will NOT, as the local media would have the populace believe, create 5,000 (or whatever) well paid high tech jobs in aerospace, only a bunch of piddly jobs for cleaners and other such domestic staff. I personally pointed this same observation out to the Metrix representatives who graced Tossford with their presence last year and for some reason they had a few moments of being 'hard of understanding' between them :pDT_Xtremez_25:

Agreed with all the above and to quote max Boyce when PSBM said those words I was there. Sadly it didn't make a blind bit of difference to the ram rodding through of this piece of political buffoonery.
