What is our future, post JPA? Should we find ouselves a specialist niche/(s) (welfare, medals, media ops etc) or generalise and do all the crap that needs doing but no other trade/branch will do (a bit like now really). I start this thread hoping for a positive (but light-hearted discussion) on our future. :confused:

To be absolutely honest. I think that we will find the future when we get there. I know that there is a lot of banter everywhere about how poor we are percieved to be, but just wait until guys have to phone a call centre and get a reference number for their query. Dial 1 for pay, whirr, if you havent been paid this month please dial 5, whirr, etc etc etc..............................................

Take pay problems, we can apparently never get it right, even though the software we work with now is 1980's vintage. Next year, we may get up to date software with JPA, but, we will not be involved with any pay problems. In fact a lot of the stuff we do now will be done by the individual or his boss. Same goes for allowances, leave and a whole lot of other things. Squadron manpower has been ring-fenced, so guess what, all of the PSF stuff will have to go to the Sqn. The squadron wont have any more manpower either. Bottom line is, anyone else in the AF right now knows about as much about JPA as any Shiney does. No matter what you think about us, the knowledge base will have gone...................... The times, they are a.........
