Have just spent 2 weeks in Los Cristianos and it was fabulous I would recommend it to anyone with kids. Playa del Americas is ok for the nightclub crowd as found this area only lively after after 10pm with lots of nightclubs etc. akin to Ayia Napa in Cyprus. We can highly recommend Aqualand water park at Adeji just 5 mins car ride from Los Cristianos, the dolphin show was excellent. Also of note and worth every penny (cent) is Summers Tea Bar located opposite the entrance to Aqualand the best "english" breakfast on the island IMHO and very cheap EU2.50 the owner is from Blackburn and does a fine english homecooked menu. Arona beach was excellent with great facilities and safe bathing for kids, snorkelling was good too lots of undersea life by the rocks. We stayed in the Beverly Hill Heights AKA Caradiac heights because of its position half way up the side of a volcano, complex was lovely and the club facilities of exceptionly high standard. Tenerife has all year round sun with temps never below 75 we were there in October and daytime temps were in the high 90s all fortnight with balmy evenings and the need for air conditioning throughout the night for a good nights sleep. If anyone is planning a trip to tenerife feel free to PM me for any other info and recommendations.
