There is nothing more relaxing than a summer's day on the River Avon fishing for brown trout !

Applications are now open for the 2018 season with the Services Dry Fly Fishing Association which is for serving personnel from all 3 Services, veterans and civil servants including retired.

The Association provides classic trout fishing on over 6 miles of the River Avon on SPTA from Bulford upstream to Fifield. The Association also owns and stocks some lakes around Netheravon.

Half rods are available for serving personnel only if there are mitigating operational and Service reasons for not being able to fish the whole trout season.

Subscription rates for the 2018 season are as follows:

Sergeant and Below (or RN/Army equivalent): £150 (This is a new subscription level and is exceptional value !)

Flight Lieutenant and below (or RN/Army equivalent), and MOD-employed civil servants of C1 Grade and below: £309

Squadron leader or Wing Commander (or RN/Army equivalent), and MOD-employed civil servants of B1 and B2 Grades: £484

Group Captains, Air Commodores, Air Marshals (or RN/Army equivalent), veterans and retired MOD civil servants: £638

Members’ spouses: Half Member subscription

Members’ children (at school): £50

For members, there are 2 free set days for an introduction to the river and dry fly nymph instruction from qualified fly fishing instructors. This alone is worth many hundreds of pounds. Visitors to the area on courses or training can purchase a limited number of day tickets from the Honorary Secretary.

Rainbow trout fishing in Corfe End Lakes is permitted 15 Mar – 31 Dec.

The brown trout season is in two parts: 1 – 30 Apr when only catch and release is permitted, and 1 May – 14 Oct. The grayling season is 16 Jun – 1 Mar.

Please contact the Honorary Secretary at secretary@sdffa.co.uk for further details or use the contact form on the Association web site which also has some excellent gallery pictures of the river here: Services Dry Fly Fishing Association - SDFFA
