So do the RAF fight on the front lines with the Army or do they stay on the airbase?

RAF News carried an article on a couple of officers who had just completed the AACC. One was a choppa' pilot who wanted the dagger to greater understand the troops he was ferrying into combat, the other was a Regt. officer who deployed with 3 Cdo. on their last tour as a FAC and did the course so that he was commando trained for his next tour with them. Both could be said to have done it for the credibility factor when working with the booties.
