Has anyone had any experience appealing a medical?
Today I received a letter from capita declaring me PERMANENTLY MEDICALLY UNFIT. (written in capitals on the letter too). After necrosis of the hip at the age of 8 my femoral head has grown back slightly larger, similar to a broken bone, the bone grows back slightly thicker.
Other than some slight aches about 6 years ago I've not had a problem. Especially since I got my backside into gear and started to get fit.
The letter expresses a concern as there aren't any more recent medical records. I find this a strange thing to be concerned about, there aren't any more recent medical records because I haven't had any problems since. You don't tend to go to the GP to say "hey guess what I'm fine, just thought you would put it in your notes".

Anyway, the letter says I can appeal but need to provide further clinical evidence from an appropriately professionally qualified professional.
Would a letter from the doctor saying that I have no issues be sufficient, there is no way my hip joint is gonna shrink but this has no affect on my everyday life.

Do you think its even worth appealing for as any new clinical evidence will no doubt be at my own expense?
Any advise or information other people may have one through would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have no experience in the overall situation but am waiting for my second Medical which is a few weeks away. I have it in my head that if they say no I'm going to bend over backwards to pursue my career in the RAF.

One question, how much do you want it? If the answer is that this has not dented your want to join up then go for it. What if 5-10 years down the line you think what if I had just spoken to my GP then they referred me to a specialist who passed me medically fit? I know its all well and good me saying this while not in your position, but why give up now, if you have to spend some money to find out its a yes, then thats amazing, onto the fitness test. If not then at least you know you exhausted every avenue and you can be happy in the knowledge that you tried everything mate.

Good luck bud I wish you all the best what ever you decide.
