Hi,
I left on 25 dec 2007, and I'm sorely missing the life. I toddled off to the afco in july this year to rejoin, to be told that all trades were closed for now. When I was serving, I was TG4 (CIS O/M). I desperatly want back in, but it looks like I wont get back in until later on next year. What I was wondering, Is it possible to volunteer to be called back up, to be shipped of to Afghan? I would gladly volunteer to go there for a few months if it means I get a few more years in.

Cheers

Have you tried joining the RAuxAF and then volunteering?

Wait until after the next round of redundancies when they realise they let too many go.

They've never offered TG4 redundancy. Which caused an amusing scene a few years ago when a massive TG3 FS stood up and verbally slapped KW the with exactly that fact.

Dave,

You will only be called up in times of National Emergency or the UK is on step up to war. (There is a thread somewhere which gives the full gen).

So the answer is no.

Soz but you will just have to wait till next year.

how long in?

how long in?

How long did you do last time? O/M's have not been around for long? That may have had some reflection on their advice.
They need to know all that specialist training does not go to waste.
PS a lot has changed since 2007 so you may be better down Tesco's

With cuts a certainty I wouldn't hang your hat on coming in next year either...Try to think why you bailed out initially and have another plan for your future up your sleeve...It may just save you being totally disappointed!
