What do you all know about what housing options are available when people leave the mob. My other half is due to leave later this year and would much rather stay in locale to me(i cant help being gorgeous) rather than move back home to her mum and dad. Shes had a few problems on the mental side and her folks dont really understand.

Any information would be great.

PS. Secret locations of Extra Large Cardboard boxes with garage and conservatory also considered.

Sounding a bit like a broken record but you won't go far wrong contacting the local branch of SSAFA. They have specialist housing advice available as well as a great deal of local knowledge as to what is available in the area and what help she is entitled to. from experience I found that the local authorities tend to have different rules as to what is available. EG I know when I came out we could have stayed local to Coningsby or return to my home town for preferential council housing. Other authorities insist on the applicant having a job etc. Use the link to SSAFA on the site and good luck.

Sorry, I had to do it...........

Go to R&D, pick up about 50 triwall boxes then start constructing your abode!

Seriously though, stick with what gemarriot said. He is ex-raf now so had to do it once apon a time.

The JSHAO at Salisbury are the experts. I must say, I have found them very useful as they give you all the information you need (housing associations, financial advisers, etc) and talk to you in a way that leaves no ambiguity (ie, they don't baffle you with bull$h1t). They also have good contacts with most local authorities in England & Wales, as well Scotland. I would use them if I were you.
