Whilst serving at RAF Masirah the Sgts' Mess had a leaving do every month, presenting those leaving with a Masirah tie from Mess Funds.
Some Clever Dick complained that, although everyone eventually benefitted, it was illegal to use Mess Funds in this way. They were, of course, correct forcing the Mess Committee to think again.
At the following leaving do there was a free raffle and would you believe only the six guys leaving won the six ties which were the only prizes.
