England skipper Paul Collingwood and his men are itching to prove themselves in Thursday's Twenty20 match against the West Indies at the Oval.

The new one-day captain, who took over from Michael Vaughan last Friday, said his new-look side were keen to lay to rest the ghosts of England's disappointing World Cup in the Caribbean.

He said: "We've done a lot of talking as a team - where we want to go and what we've done well in the past.

"We want to move forward now and we're looking forward to being on the park.

"The word 'intent' is a massive thing for our team. 'Intent as a team', 'hunting in packs'... these are the big buzz words in the dressing room at the moment.

"There's been a lot of good talk but we have to put that on to the pitch.

"What you want out there is 11 leaders, that when it gets feisty you've got 11 people going for each other."

The Durham batsman is hoping that the younger members of the England squad will herald a new era for the English limited overs game.

Here's hoping they can put the talk into action, it's about time England started consistently producing the goods in ODI's.
