Hello all,

First post (other than the intro).

As the title states really, myself and colleague both work for an NHS ambulance service as Paramedics and want to join (part time) somewhere to use our skills for the benifit of our boys and girls (and sometimes the bad people) out in the sand with the MERT/IRT (after specialist training of course).

We are both finding it very hard to gather info on this, we think that it would be with 4626 at RAF Lyneham? We are due to go to an open day in October but have had no confirmation about this.

Are we both barking up the wrong tree? Is there no place for us? Are we not needed?

We are both fit and healthy and good at our jobs and just want to do our bit!

Any advise from anyone would be very helpfull.

P.S Already spoke to the careers office and the phone number both very little help im affraid.

Many Thanks
Tom

4626 are actively recruiting at the moment, and they are looking for Paramedics. I believe that they will have a cadre of Para's to initially fulfill the MERT role in Iraq and Afghan, but eventually they will take on more diverse roles as the numbers come up. PM me if you have any questions.

Well, it seems like they do!

A work colleague and myself went along to the information day at Lyneham on the 5th and was told all about 4626 sqd and that they need Paramedics to ultimately join the MERT, so we are now both pursuing the application and are very much look forward to our specialist training and our deployment which we are told will be in around 1 year!

Thanks to all for the info supplied.
