Can anyone give a fairly detailed explanation on the differences between Airmen, NCA, and SNCO? The internet is very general about the differences, especially between airmen and NCA.
Thanks!!

Fairly Easy, NCA join at separate unit train at a separate unit and serve on aircraft whilst they are airborne.

SNCO's work hard, lead teams, develop subordinates and get the jobs done leaving the NCA to do theirs in the air.

Two rewarding career streams but not much cross over.

NCA starts as an AC just like everyone else. They used to go through Halton with the other recruits but nor sure if that is still the case. After Halton they went to Cranwell for AAITC which was 11 weeks long. This is where they met the already serving members of their course. Everyone became Aircrew Cadets and ran around a lot carrying heavy things whilst carrying out leadership training and general service knowledge. At the end of that everyone gets acting SGT unless you were already a SGT on arrival. You then do your professional training whilst picking up station duties like orderly SGT.

On completion of your professional training you move to your new base. Once through your OCU you go to substantive SGT and strive towards becoming combat ready? At this point you'll pick up guard commander and orderly SGT duties just like everyone else...you'll be given Sqn duties and be expected to take on secondary duties as well as think about a T-cat role like teaching survival or reccy perhaps (brevet dependent).
