Car insurance renewal is due at the end of April.

Hastings Direct ...

"Your price has increased by £1047.54 from last year."

Just got new insurance using Compare The Market for £300 less than last year.

Went the other way, Direct line tried a 30% increase, on top of a 30% attempt last year, backed down to 15%, and that was with an extra years of no claims.

Hastings direct ended up being cheaper than last years policy, with same excesses and recovery included.

I've been with Hastings for years - the quote goes up one call and it's back down.
Last year around this time i traded in the old Passat & picked up a much newer Merc C-Class after some initial buffoonery from Hastings at renewal time where my quote went up £450 - for a Passat I hadn't owned for months, the real quote for the Merc was lower than for the VW the previous year.
I get the feeling this year could be interesting.

I've read various things on why the costs are going up from all the Range Rovers in London & the South East being nicked to the repair costs of EVs, either way some of the renewal quotes I've heard have been crazy.
I'm almost convinced they're ex fairy's using the chicken bones and dice!

My 15 year old Avensis is somehow more expensive to insure than my 6 year old Audi.

Makes no sense to me. Shopped around and all the quotes were more expensive than the renewal being offered.

Martin Lewis recommends getting a quote 26 days (or thereabouts) before renewal for the best price, I did this, but then forgot about it for a few days (a couple of weeks) and the lowest quote had jumped, but these were from companies I hadn’t heard of so wouldn’t have used anyway.

Boom my renewal drops - Same as Barch, Hastings direct.

Last year £359 this year they want £606, not as bad a quote that he got but still time to shop around and see what can be done.

I think Hastings Direct want to be out of the car insurance market now.

Doubled my quote this year. Off shopping I go.

All you tw@ts in your deeply expensive to repair electric cars have f*cked the rest of us over. That's most of the the story they're giving me for the price increases.

LV dropped me an email trying to get me to empathise with their plight into having to charge more.

Next day the renewal arrives asking for another £250!

Found a cheaper quote than last year with Allianz, told LV this but they wouldn't budge so told them to get tae f*ck.

Allianz own LV.

My renewal price with Ageas was about £10 more than last year. The quotes I got from comparison sites was £100+ more, including Ageas.

I would normally have gone through Meerkat and got the 2-4-1 cinema deal for 12 months. Instead I renewed and bough a 1 day Uk travel insurance for my son through meerkat for 79p.

That's what I do too - cost me £1.02 though. Age before beauty :)

Renewed last night went to a well known comparison site and saved nearly £500 across both cars insurance.

Very long winded call to Hastings telling them to GTF as they continued to tell me how sorry they are that I'm thinking of leaving.

Knobbers the lot of them.

Funny we changed to hastings as well cheaper than Admiral. Daughter also went to them as well, she is paying £580 for a 2018 Polo and Admiral wanted over £900 which is nearly a 45% increase from last year and Admiral could not come down due to inflation etc !!!!
