Now then!

Some people tell me the boil in the bag rations are not to be taken out the plastic bag, and some say it doesn't matter. The issue being the water is contaminated, and can give you metal poisoning? If that were the case, surely there would be a warning on the pack.

So which is right?

Complete rubbish- remove plastic wrapping, put in water, heat up. Simples.

Good question, but don't see what all the fuss is about.

We used to shove everything into the water in an Ali mess tin, boil the fook out of it, then make a brew with the left over water.

Never did me any harm - well, except for the man boobs, dymentia and hot flushes, followed by hormonal outbursts of emotional turmoil.:pDT_Xtremez_35:

A bitb taken out of the plastic just before heating will ensure clean water for a brew. One out of its plastic and stuffed in a bergan for days etc will inevitably get crap on it from grubby hands etc and put that crap in the water. May give you the sihts, may not. But metal poisoning? I don't think so.
