Nice one, in the 1950's and early 60's there was an RAF Detachment at RAAF Base Edinburgh, it might have even been a Squadron but my understanding was that they were there as part of the Weapons Research Establishment, Woomera. They consisted of all ranks and musterings (trades) from techs to cooks and so as an example in the Messes there was a mixture of RAAF and RAF staff, same for Guardroom duties etc. RAF Officers also held various appointments throughout the Base.
It was also odd in that RAAF Base Edinburgh also had the Recruit Training Unit and at the time the RAAF was recruiting ex RAF directly from the UK by signing them on at Australia House in London and so you had this mixture of British accents in both RAF and RAAF uniform.
Incidently, those ex RAF who signed on in London were on full pay according to their trade pay level the instant they signed on/appointed and were thus paid while on the boat on their way to Australia, in other words a paid holiday.
I also served alongside RAF members at RAAF Base Butterworth in Malaysia with attachments to Singapore. It was at the time the RAF was pulling out of Butterworth and the RAAF was taking over.
Anyhow, just a bit of info by way of introduction, I'll just have a browse through your website just to make comparisons of both Air Forces albeit a lot has changed since my day with many current forum members possibility not even having been born when I joined.
