Has anybody been progressed through PJFT without hitting the running target times?
I mean, if you just miss out by 5 - 10 secs, is it a fail immediately, or do they have a leeway which says 'Halton PT and Basic Trg can make that time up?...'

I'm guessing that the standard set is a pass/fail in black and white. If you're 5 or 10 seconds outside then you have failed. Why not concentrate on being well inside the time required then you don't have anything to worry about. Im guessing you're fairly young so your general fitness shouldn't be a problem. If it is a problem, then you have to ask yourself can you spend the next 9 years or so in the RAF doing your fitness test every 6 months!

No

No

Unfortunately due to the current recruiting situation the answer is NO.

The Fitness levels are already lowered levels of fitness that take into account Halton PT for 9 weeks.

If you cannot do the run in the time specified there is no way you'll pass the PRTC fitness test and therefore you won't get a sniff at Halton at the mo.

Get fit, get a job.

Standards are exactly that, standards, not guidlines; they are the minimum levels you are required to attain.

If you don't achieve them there are plenty of others who will. Put your PS 360 Megadrive down and get treading the pavement.

Failing the PJFT is a black and white NO, as has already been pointed out. Males who fail the PRTC assessment are still taken on, but will do the 2-week foundation PT phase that girls do (due to the issue of pelvic stress injuries in the past, girls do a 2-week foundation PT phase whereby they do targeted PT to help comabt the incidence of such injuries) on top of the 9-week RTS programme. If you FAIL the fitness assessment at the end of the 2-week programme you will be REMOVED from training. You obviously have no confidence in your own physical ability which leads to the rather harsh but rather fair conclusion that a career in the forces may not be the right path for you, unless you up the ante massively.

Unless something has come out of Halton since last Tuesday then you are slightly out there WH.

If you fail the Pre RTC fitness test, at the Pre RTC Levels, you go home for 6 months minimum before applying to the RAF again, no matter how much you cry.

If you pass the fitness test at Pre RTC then fail your Day 2 Fitness test, as well as being stupid you go onto the two week conditioning course before joining the next intake.

Bear in mind that if you get back flighted more than 4 weeks (this would include your conditioning course) there's a good chance you'll miss your trade training and if there isn't another one coming up pretty quickly after that you'll be chosing a new trade or leaving the RAF.

A quick check on the number of my postings may indicate I am neither a new, nor interested recruit, just interested in a response (factual) from anyone who recently undertook a PJFT and was maybe given any leeway due to a close tolerance fail.
As it was, the individual I posed the hypothetical point for, did the PJFT today and breezed it !:pDT_Xtremez_19:
