Back in the early eighties my Granddad wrote a book detailing his life growing up in the early 20th century in the West End of Newcastle. Now obviously, as a family, we have always been a little biased and we always belived that it was good enough to be published. Well my cousin - an ex MT Driver - has managed to do just that and it is now on sale at Waterstones, WH Smiths, Amazon and ITunes. It is a great read and I really can not recommend it enough. Anybody who is interested, the book is called The Avenue, by Samuel Herbert. http://www.thehistorypress.co.uk/products/The-Avenue.aspx http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Avenue-...8863/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334737193&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Avenue-...ECYG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334737193&sr=8-2
