    New Accomodation Model

"An army captain said: "I could conceive of no single policy better placed to drive quality officers out of the service and tear the heart out of the organisation"....He added that he was planning to resign within the next two years, saying: "Anecdotally, most of my peers are also now planning...

Inventor of Chicken Tikka Masala has died

Well I don't know what to believe as it was once stated on this site that "Barry the Brummie"s, SGT chef had invented the curry. I don't have the original thread but very confused. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-64055639

    Albania.

Which one were you🤣 There was one of these "hotels" due to open in or near Ipswich, large enough to house most of Suffolk's quota, seems its run into red tape or complaints and has not opened. One valid consideration was that most of the existing staff would see their jobs end as you point out...

For the older codgers amongst us

As suggested, we shall all guess. Are you front row, seventh from the left? 3 years earlier we were in a more modern block, cannot remember the name but it must have been less of a **** to clean than the brass and wooden floors

    Lack of drivers

Not sure they need a CPC. I work somewhere in East Anglia for the septics and last time I asked the drivers didn't all have CPC's, there is some sort of MOD exemption. I certainly never had one with my CAT D licence.

    Pension increase 2021

That's only if you have enough qualifying years. If you have been contracted out of the NI pension scheme you may not get the full amount. Anyone who has had a long military career or worked for the civil service was contracted out until a few years back. You can check on the government website...

    The 'Freedom Day' Thread

Yes, in shops. I don't use public transport but I would if I did. Stopped wearing a mask at work as the policy there is not required if double jabbed, no scientific or medical reasoning by management but people seem happy.

    Pension pay slip

I retired nearly 12 years ago and I don't get a monthly pension pay slip. Its possible I did in the 1st year (memory has faded) but once it settled to a regular amount I just get the yearly statement and P60. Into a new tax year now so could this be your reason?

    What do you still do

Clothes hangers in the wardrobe all loop over the bar the same way, shirts buttoned up facing inwards in the wardrobe, 35 years since leaving Swinderby

    Post count.

I see your post count as 870, 17 thumbs up and 18 trophies. Too many years behind the wheel, you have gone mad

    Deflating an aircraft tyre.

This is not really an answer to the O/Ps question but nevertheless; its a long time since I was a liney and not being a rigga, but I seem to recall and "googled" it, there was a thing called a "Turner adapter" for inflating/deflating a tyre. I will commend the OP for their stance, sometimes it...

Leaving the RAF? Your experiences with resettlement.

My CTP resettlement advisor was a waste of time, only interested in ticking boxes; as soon as I found a part time job not paying enough to live on she dropped me. On the flip side I did 3 courses at Aldershot and they were fantastic, I got more from them than was advertised. One of my...

    Lockdown is here

Copied this from the BBC, possibly car sales is stretching the word "Essential" but the servicing side would certainly fit within the guidelines. Copied it from an article about over zealous officials trying to ban the sale of Easter Eggs. Seems there is no definition of essential goods a food...

    Corona virus

I work for a "world military superpower" here in East Anglia, they have sent most civvies home on base. There a few of us left in what are judged mission essential roles; half of me would like to be sat at home, the other half thinks life would become dull. I fear for all of us that day may come...
