    TG4 Sgt, 2 children, £30 odd a day LOA. House back in the UK rented out, therefore nil cost. Just salary, child benefit and LOA. Husband doesn't work. Take home, post tax, £3300 a month. That's enough..

    This potential FRI is only half of the solution, recent promotion boards have been exhausted, that hollow 'Yes' with a poor performance and potential likely scored a 1.00, however because they are a Yes, they are in. The fallout of this retention issue will promote some people too early...

    Tough one, retention may keep people in the service, but then slow promotion down. I think for the past few years there has been an expection that 3-5 years in rank is enough to move up. Bring back longer periods, this will force people post the IP / EDP point to jump.... Bit of a retention...

    Well, i hope the calculator is correct for the Pay Increases also. Is trade pay also factored in? Trade Group 1, Supp 3 (Mech), Level 6 Chief Tech with Trade Pay is £53,600 roughly. You'd have to put a WO in to achieve them AFPS 75 values..

    I can see this pushing a few out the doors, especially those that have reached 22 years, and 3 years in rank. I guess they are the ones you need to keep. The ones that have hung around to 26-28-30 years, they're the ones who might not have a job outside and are staying for promotion/job...

    I think removing the 2 year pay freeze for techie trades would be good. I'd also like a pay rise through the AFPRB, as currently outside jobs pay more. Especially as we've reached minimal LOS for the 75/15 EDP!
