    I'm very much aware the RAF has had beards for some time now! What I'm saying is the 2 policies don't match up. We have to have beards approved/registered before growing them whereas the Army can just rock up after leave with a beard.

Soldiers can grow beards on leave without permission yet we have to ask permission and are on probation for 2 weeks to see if they meet the standard, is it time for all 3 services to now...

    Doesn't every FRI state its not payable to those who have ET'd? Its their way of staving off ETs, probably why they slipped the info out before Treasury buy-in, call me an old cynic.

    Isn't the problem that when soldiers shot people there were investigations at the time? It could only have been a few that did it and if they admitted it in self defence/preventing the deaths of others etc. then they reasonably thought owning up was the right thing to do/unavoidable.     Not sure I agree with everything they say. Imo the removal of religion from all things military is a step in the right direction, whether that is Christianity or any other flavour. Otherwise, its hard to argue with the core of the message.

    Understood, so my point about non-TG1 FS's who have 6 years seniority stands alongside your assertion. This has to be the fairest scenario RAF wide: TG1 automatically get WO2 along with non TG1 FS's with 6 years seniority. Works for me (literally)!

    Big problem with that scenario is if you have to introduce this RAF wide for parity and fairness then non TG1 Sgts would jump OR7 and go straight to WO2. Imo that would be a terrible mistake, being a FS prepares you for the J1 issues you get when managing 50+ people, you can 'hit the ground...

    Non TG1 FS's can also go into OR8 pay band, CT's can't. All FS are equal none outrank others. TG1 FS's start on OR8 pay to differentiate them from CT.     The RAF has turned into the 'Keep TG1 sweet' brigade sod the rest. Give them Supp 3 pay, tech pay, and now give them OR8 on top of a £30,000 FRI! So rather than the RAF as a whole not liking the whole OR7/OR8 thing in the tri-service arena, it'll just be the forgotten professions wholl be left...

    Understood, but in a sunny location in the Eastern Med it has been slashed (but then how else do you keep the whole LOA change cost neutral other than slashing the largest LOA population to improve others????).

    LOA has nearly halved in the last 3 years, people have been urged to buy their own houses to give their families stability. To buy those houses I bet both parents have to work. So going overseas isn't as attractive as it used to be, we struggle to get any volunteers where I am.
