    What's Life Like on Atlas?

Cat Techie it all lives under the MAA but the MAA approval for the organisation via the MOE still has to comply with all the MAA regs - which don't really contain any significant differences between an MMO(mil maint org, think classic squadrons) and an AMO (approved maint org, much the same as...

    What's Life Like on Atlas?

The civvy type rating for Atlas isn't worth the paper EASA printed it on for actual use of the aircraft - its only cleared for 2 pilots. Any further clearances require individual operators to produce their own RTS. Part 145 stuff is, as already mentioned, an effort to copy and paste CAA/EASA...

    What's Life Like on Atlas?

Bit late but without a shadow of a doubt the worst place I've ever worked, in every aspect you can think of. Whoever thought MRP 145 was the way forward needs taking outside and shooting, but my inner cynic suggests that fixed price engineering is what the MOD really want anyway..

Return to old style pay bands?

Heard a rumour yesterday that the CAS is considering a return to the old style pay bands to aid retention issues... ..and they may start charging us to PVR again :PDT_Xtremez_08:

Allowances on Posting Urgent help Needed

Hallo, I got thrown a bit of a dilema yesterday when I was asked if I wanted a posting from Lossie down to Brize on 216. Aside from the fact I have only been in post for just over a year I have been unable to get hold of any admin/allowances types to let me know what the deal is going to be...

    Is Smoking that anti-social?

Yes (apparently just yes is too short..)

How long before you kill someone?

Sounds like that hasnt changed since I was there then.. ..thing being the muppets should not be allowed on it until the see-in crew have finished with it, they are not qualified to say it's safe to do so or not. It's only because they are in a rush and want to get some sleep..

    Tonka Maintenance goes North

Well the gen I have is all the Tonka P* are coming to Lossie including F3.

    Station Closures Imminent

I don't think ARF has stolen all the squadrons manpower. Have a look in the direction of hot pit refueling, FAM (55 odd riggers at the last count) and the lack of replacements for tranche 3/PVRs. As for the TG2 types not doing anything much, then I would agree but like a lot of other stations...

    Marham,can't cope

Did the same at Lossie but Marham don't seem to be able to generate spares as well as the bays here did.

    National Defence Association Discussion.

I think you missing a big point here Frustrated. By appointed retired officers into the organisation you will never really get any respect from the ground up. As long as the military continues its frankly useless and highly wasteful tradition of posting the middle and upper management ever two...

    Time for another 'E2E' study?

Seems to sum up the majority of the failings in the RAF as I see them. Until the upper echelons decide that the 'men' are not all that stupid and get rid of the Cranwellian system of breeding in a class based rank structure then I doubt very little will change. After all why remove your...

    Lean at Lyneham

That shift pattern at Lyneham was a bag of sh1te. Still makes me chuckle at the roasting the then OC Eng got in A line's crew room, when he came over to talk at us rather than to us. That and one of the painter SNEC's from the primary team walking out saying, 'I don't know what they are all...

    Lean at Lyneham

Well my first post on here and this seems like an appropritate topic!! I was at Lyneham whilst it was still A line and B line and during the initially proposed 24/30 47/70 Sqdn idea. The original idea when the lines were split due to J/K fleets was that the flying squadrons and the eng...
