    Death benefits

This is how I replied to the_worrier on Army Rumour Service: You should get a Benefit Information Statement just after your birthday each year. That will tell you what your spouse would receive in the event of your death. The children would only be entitled to a child's pension if still in...

    Swap Pension Payment Date

I am not sugggesting that the increase moves only the announcement of what the increase measure will be. The CPI rate for each year is always based on the headline rate for September of the previous year. We know that was 6.7% but what we do not know is whether the government will raise...

    Swap Pension Payment Date

Public Sector Pension increases are normally linked to the rise announced for benefits. That is why, when a Budget in the early 2010s said that benefits would rise by CPI rather than RPI, service pension increases were linked to CPI. We are waiting to see what the Autumn Statement (22 Nov)...

AFPS05 EDPs as “relevant UK earnings” for the purposes of tax relief?

I have checked with FPS HQ and they are pretty sure that most “Trade Pay” was replaced in the 2016 pay reform by supplement categorisation. These supplements are of course pensionable under AFPS05 and AFPS15. Since then, we have seen specific elements of trade-related payments reintroduced for...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I had to check out the position. Our understanding is that the calculator can be used for FTRS however, it can only be used for the pension that isn’t in payment (i.e. that is the pension which is currently being accrued). The calculator can’t...

FPS HQ confirm that the calculator is for serving personnel only. Those who have recently left the Services will have done so on their current pension terms and will need to wait for their Remediable Service Statement to detail their election choices.
