    Nicola Sturgeon to step down.

I bet that Baldy Ghoul who leads the SNP in Westminster will keep his face off TV for a little while now.

Shader aircraft shoot down Iranian drones

I hope not. The Iranian government are not a reflection of the majority of Iranian citizens, and given half a chance, they would be a very good country to do business with. If ever a country needed a Regime Change, it is that one.

    Wider Service Medal

I guess the parades these days are very much a case of the haves and have nots, with parade commanders sporting perhaps one jubilee medal whilst some of the SNCOs will have 7 or 8.

    TG1 Retention again

My daughter did a NHS degree. Uni was Ipswich, 100 miles away. In Years 2 and 3, she was placed at Peterborough City Hospital, 15 miles away, and attended Ipswich for 5 days a year. She lived at home rather than paying £6k a year for a room she would use for 5 nights. Are you saying that...

    TG1 Retention again

Cool. In the 90s, the Sqns I was on (which included both HR Consultants and Engineers and a few aircrew) deployed on ops for 2 months out of every 6.

    TG1 Retention again

Could they not consult with those actually doing the work on a daily basis instead of asking someone with perfectly manicured fingernails who hasnt spannered for years? Maybe even employ 1 x CAMO/DE&S on every flying unit to be the liaison. They dont all have to work in Bristol - we have teams...

    TG1 Retention again

Same as it would for PTI when they are posted to a PJI post, or a steward when they are posted to a flying Sqn as an air steward. Run circuits or serve a few pints = standard pay. Teach people to jump out of aircraft or look after the needs of 200+ at 40,000 Ft = more pay,

    TG1 Retention again

Not at all - but the posts above seem to support my theory that TG1 is full of technicians, not engineers, and its become an ego title, passed through time that someone who changes an item on an aircraft that was designed and built by someone else according to their work instructions is to that...

    TG1 Retention again

Aerospace engineers design, build and maintain aircrafts such as planes, spacecrafts and satellites. Their role combines aspects of both mechanical and electrical engineering. Whats your engineering degree in Ady? Do you design and build aircraft? Have you ever designed and built an aircraft...

And a lot of those are the ones now that you seem to think deserve huge money and retention bonuses?

    Princess of Wales. Cancer diagnosis.

It appears that she had decided over a fortnight ago to go public and was just waiting for the end of term for her kids before doing that. However, some of the social media crap that has been out there has been completely out of order I totally agree regarding giving her the privacy she needs...

    TG1 Retention again

Exactly. But you'll hardly ever see a garage building the replacement part from scratch. Its invariably a case of garage orders replacement part and replaces it as per manufacturer instructions using specialist tools. I wouldnt call someone in Kwik Fit or Halfords a vehicle engineer. Me...

    TG1 Retention again

Doesnt the plug-in diagnostic give a code and the fault manual translates that code into "replace X", then the repair manual tells you how to replace it? I'm not saying that it still doesnt need some degree of skill and knowledge to do the repair, but "engineering" is possibly an overstatement...

    TG1 Retention again

How many aircraft tasks on typhoons or F35B take true engineering these days and how many are replacement of a component/box made by an outside contractor diagnosed by a piece of kit again manufactured by an outside company?
