The problem with Cosford is that there aren't enough basic trainees here at the moment. That means the multi-skillers are our largest population of students and the trainee management organisation finds them an easy target
DT_Xtremez_32: Things that would go un-noticed on a real RAF station get jumped upon - such as walking back to the block in an orderly manner at 4:30 pm !
As for the Airshow organisation...well there's one held every year yet you'd think that each was the first
DT_Xtremez_31: Duxford, Coventry, Farnborough and other locations hold shows equally the size of Cosfords every year and seem not to need legions and legions of manpower to control the carparks, sell programs etc etc. A few space cadets from the local squadron do the job nicely and they enjoy it
DT_Xtremez_35:
There are two bidders currently looking to take on RAF, Army and Navy aircraft engineering training, one down at St Athan and one here at Cosford. Keeping the training here would make sense in that we've got all the assets here and only two lots of personnel would have to shift location. The wise money is on St Athan however because it is the best
political decision, and that is the one that will be important in the end. The recent decision
not to close the army heavy engineering plant at ABRO Donnington in Telford is also seen as a good pointer; close one base in the region and you create a stink that soons blows away, close two and you create a **** load of trouble!
