Since my arrival at this unit i have been amazed how s#ite it is here, Is this just me or is the general feeling of everyone who comes here????
I have also become aware that the rank of Cpl is totally meaningless here, LAC's are treated with more respect and it appears that all the meakons who can't cut it in the REAL airforce are attracted to here like a fly to a dog t#rd.

I couldnt believe that on my assimilation course that they made cpls sgts and chiefs sweep the hanger on a friday pm - they couldnt ask the a.c / lacs because they were part of 'Trenchard sqn' and the mech training hangers werent their place of work and therefore cleaning the hangers on a fri was not part of their 'remit'! :pDT_Xtremez_14:

I am in complete agreement with Turbo Angrymans comments, which is hard to come to terms with cos he usually talks a load of blollocks.
In fact when you get to the rank that allows entry to the Old Folks home on the other side of the A41 IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER, and due to the distinct lack of kiddies, the amount of time spent on guard has increased 4 fold at an average if once every 3 months.

Also it was complete and utter c#ck that all the grown ups had to parade at 06:15 stupid o’clock to go and pick up siht down the aerodrome after the air show, with no thanks. It was one of the most unorganised operations ever, how the F#ck did we win any sort of military conflict I have no idea.

Volunteers are required to join the happy team here at RAF Big Steaming Pile of dog doo.

well, recently when I was there on my Av-Elect course, it seems we are training more saudis than we are brits there at the moment!

When I went through on basic, (2000) it was an absolute hive of activity with them ordering bunk beds for most blocks and in some cases sticking 2 extra beds in a 4 man room. Now, most of the blocks are empty, AC's living in superblocks and cpls and below in ****e accomodation.

All gone a bit pete tong methinks!

No wonder most "kids" come out of training with rose coloured specks on, then get a short sharp shock when the likes of Sausage 2 gets hold of them!

The best laugh I had was when 1 guy - a few years ago admittedly - produced a yellow card and told me I was stressing him! Not half as much as the muppet was stressing me!

Bring back the old days - SAC's were Gods when I went through Halton (on Rigger course, not basics!) And they scared the Sh1t out of most instructors too!

Training camps = easy life for new boys, total b0ll0cks for everyone else! :pDT_Xtremez_25:

It ain't just Saudis. There are all sorts of foreigners here.
As for trainees in superblocks, I think that's just the UT PTIs. Not only that but the w@nkers (senior course only) get to eat in the same mess as the permenent staff.
If I had my way things would be soo different.:pDT_Xtremez_32:

To be honest I'm unhealthily looking forward to my fog ducking course, it is, after all, 3 weeks away from Marham!

I am in total agreement, not their "remit", I'll give them "remit". If they make the mess they should f#cking clean it up. Likewise with the cross dressers cpls, sgts and chiefs if you make the mess you clean it. The instructors do when the dressers have an early stack on a Friday LOL

I'm here on my second stint. My first was '98-'02 and I got back here 4 weeks ago. The difference is unbelievable. Its a ghost town. There seems to be more foreign students here than UK.

As for UT PTI's in superblocks, I suppose they just had someone in the hierarchy fight a good fight to get what they wanted. If only all bosses would do that.......

The Training Camp In The Midland's Good Or Toilet??
Its full title is not RAF Cosford anymore but DCAE Cosford. That stands for Defence College of Arab Engineering - Training Tomorrow's Enemy Today!!:pDT_Xtremez_30:

But Hunter you enjoy teaching them so so much, you told me so yourself.:pDT_Xtremez_14:
They like your teaching methods as well and are astounded at how well the JP canopy covers double up as your overalls. You must be really really good. In fact I would love to sit in on one of your lessons next time you get some of our sandy friends to teach.

Moving to Saints?

Moving to Saints?

Does anyone at Cosford know if there is any truth in the rumour that DCAE is to be moved to Saint Athan? Call me cynical but maybe there are more labour voting jobs on the line in South Wales. Or is this another cost cutting measure, create uncertainty over the future of a base then use that as an excuse not to spend any cash because "we don't know if the camp will close or not" It's saved several Stn Cdr's here pots of cash using that one for two years then passing the baton on.

The future of DECAY Cosford is indeed clouded in mystery. The whole training outfit (all 3 Services) is up for partnership there are only 2 bidders and rumour has it one of them is being sponsored by the Welsh Development Agency or whatever its called today. They're pretty p!ssed off that DARA got shut down and want the DCAE Organisation to move into the worlds largest IKEA at St's

Oh yeah we're now training UAE, Saudis, Brunie's and Allah only knows who's next

I did my mech's course at Halton and thoroughly enjoyed the place.
Cosford for my fitters course sucked! Hated the place, it was full of jobsworth's with only a handful of decent people who knew how to talk to other human being's.
Went back to Cosford again for the 1st part of my Q course to do a few weeks engine bashing. Asked instructor about this multi skilling that was due to come in. His reply was that there were only a few subjects extra on top of what we were doing, so he managed to fit it in in an avo and annotated our course report with it.
Now I have to go back to that sh**hole again for 3 weeks of crap that I have already done!!!!!!!!
Having done my Q course I am split brained anyway and have filled 2 posts as a "heavy"
Waste of fookin time, another 3 weeks away which doesnt count on the good old DWR credits!
Just glad I am keeping people in cushy posts at Cosford!!

The problem with Cosford is that there aren't enough basic trainees here at the moment. That means the multi-skillers are our largest population of students and the trainee management organisation finds them an easy target :pDT_Xtremez_32: Things that would go un-noticed on a real RAF station get jumped upon - such as walking back to the block in an orderly manner at 4:30 pm !
As for the Airshow organisation...well there's one held every year yet you'd think that each was the first :pDT_Xtremez_31: Duxford, Coventry, Farnborough and other locations hold shows equally the size of Cosfords every year and seem not to need legions and legions of manpower to control the carparks, sell programs etc etc. A few space cadets from the local squadron do the job nicely and they enjoy it :pDT_Xtremez_35:

There are two bidders currently looking to take on RAF, Army and Navy aircraft engineering training, one down at St Athan and one here at Cosford. Keeping the training here would make sense in that we've got all the assets here and only two lots of personnel would have to shift location. The wise money is on St Athan however because it is the best political decision, and that is the one that will be important in the end. The recent decision not to close the army heavy engineering plant at ABRO Donnington in Telford is also seen as a good pointer; close one base in the region and you create a stink that soons blows away, close two and you create a **** load of trouble!

Spent 14 hours waving at cars as a highly paid car park attendant, got sunburnt, made to eat two packed lunches (usual manky ham sarnies) and got to watch aircraft, that I work on for a living, fly around - all for the benefit of of the local community - sh**te !! The quicker this crappy cross dressing course is over the better. Although I will miss uti pti's asking us to jump with feet together and telling them to go forth and multiply !!

Jobs a good 'un.:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I'm not too bothered about the whole saluting thing, it's all part of the game but when a 16 year old scrote looks you in the eye and then can't be bothered to bang one up it grips my ****.....

The man in charge of making the decision over which out of Cosford or St Athan gets to be the joint training establishment is also the MP for one of those location. How independant he turns out to be will have to be seen, but he has said that he will choose the best location for the task.

Best get learning Welsh boyo.
