I believe Sharkey Ward had an altogether different opinion about who was useless!

Most of Ward's problems with the RAF were to do with the loss of the fixed wing carriers in the late 1960's (which he was right about) and other items controlled by the RAF like the lack of 30mm Aden Tracer rounds. He also had a lot of problems with the Vulcan Attacks, especially the anti - Runway attacks (in which he is totally wrong as the only 1000lb bomb to hit the runway from a medium level or loft attack came off a Vulcan). He did actually say some good things about the RAF Harrier force, and some very bad things about the surface navy in that book.

Bloody hell fellah, you should be teaching tactics at Valley or Top Gun!

Humm, maybe cause I've actually been the guy on the ground taking pot-shots at aircraft doing those types of attack (electronic simulations of course with real SHORAD systems), that I have some idea of what works when trying to evade the things at low level and what don't.

And what would Morgan know? Didn't he transfer to the RN after?

Well he would, he's a fishead!

He was in the Navy before they chopped him as a pilot n the first place, hence his remuster to the RAF. Of course after coming up as the top scoring SHAR pilot on an exchange tour, the navy took him back (i think he wanted to live down in SHAR land anyway so a good move for him as well).

I met one yesterday! I was goading a PTI with some banter about being in the firing line for cutbacks due to the SDR...He asked what an SDR is...I look at my colleague and raise an eyebrow then explain...He states that he enjoys military life so much he'd serve for any of the 3 forces...10 out of 10 for attitude but maybe needs to pick up a paper every now or then!

SDSR you mean. Maybe YOU should pick up a paper now or then!
