My mistake if i posted into wrong part of the forum.

I recently handed my F6009 only to be told no trades are open and that im to be discharged from the royal air force effective immediately. however i can rejoin in 6 months if i decide to.

My question is will they be any trades open within 6 months or should i try another branch of the armed forces

The only people that will be able to answer your questions are the people in the AFCO. I suggest you ring them direct and speak to them about a course of action for you. I hope you get the answers you are looking for.

Interesting that you are being discharged due to lack of trades, but you don't mention about the trade/branch that you were in training for.

Also, was that advice that you could join in 6 months time, or reapply?

Your posts appear to be giving mixed messages, are you already in the RAF or are you still in the application process? If you are in the RAF and have passed Basic Training did you start your phase 2 training? If you have then why are you being binned part way through, if you haven't why didn't you start your course, were you backflighted and missed it?

Not just yet

Not just yet

There's no point ringing anybody yet, you'll have to wait until nearer the date before ringing the AFCO as they won't know what's happening in the next financial year yet.

Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.

I rang AFCO this week. I only enquired about a specific trade (WSOp) but they seem to think recruiting would begin at the end of this calender year. Obviously I may be wrong about it applying to all trades etc?

That's a long way away yet and may just be the minimum term before the trade opens again, it's not guaranteed .

Good on you, however the answer may be different after the SDSR, or in 6 months time, end of the year is the expected start of next years recruitment.

Oh

Oh

Hey,

First time post. :|

That does not sound to good as that was the trade I was looking to go into.

Would anybody be able to shine any light on this, Or would you be offered your other options.

I am from a Army MoD side and I heard of the army if they cant find you a job in that Trade or see a hole in the future they then re-train you or say come back in 6months time.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks Snowball, Also does anyone know if Recruitment is going on within RAF for certain trades for ASAP recruits, Or if someone able to point me in correct area.

If no comments I just take it for this current Armed Forces Review as affect all recruitment to new recruits.

WOW, Like I know the Army are starting to Cancel or Delay intakes

Cancelled is where there told up front the trade no longer required or needed
Delayed I spoken to someone who date got delayed until MAYBE November

Also some have been given option to move to other ones and etc and wonder if the RAF does this for people aslong you got the Test Mark to do it?

With atm I am MoD Civvy but always fancy a job in RAF and When told AFCO officer about I am a MoD civvy staff he was very shocked and said I would be in a good chance to least get a Formal Interview but I just see this waiting time as a Time to get fit and Learn so I get thru the stages.

So How does the current RAF guys and gals feel about this, Would you feel that the RAF should be trying to recruit more future YOU. Or do you feel that the RAF have over employed to many people in recent years.

I would love to hear in October to what the final of the Defence Review!

Scots,

What are you looking to apply for? You're asking questions that are best answered by the AFCO. The main message has already been mentioned above, until we know the results of the SDSR, we are having to be very cautious with recruiting, so this year's numbers are lower.
