I know it's a bit quiet with the summer break so I've put a few snippets of news together.

Pirelli set to kick off F1 tyre testing

Pirelli is to begin testing its new Formula 1 tyres ahead of its return to the sport in 2011 at Mugello tomorrow, AUTOSPORT has learned. The Italian manufacturer will replace Bridgestone as Formula 1's sole tyre supplier from next season, and has engaged Toyota Motorsport to run a 2009-specification Toyota TF109 for its test programme.

Yet another unknown quantity for the teams to have a scramble to see who can get on top the the new tyres the quickest and gain an early lead for the new season.

Bahrain reverts to old layout for 2011

The Bahrain Grand Prix will return to its original circuit layout for the 2011 race, organisers announced on Monday. Bahrain, which opened the 2010 season, used the extended "endurance track" for this year's edition of the event, as part of the celebrations which marked the 60th anniversary of Formula 1 racing.

However, organisers announced on Monday that the 2011 race will take place in the original layout which has hosted the grand prix since 2004. The layout used this year made the track longer and slower, with its length increased from 5.412km to 6.299km.

Hopefully this may spice up the race a little after the season opening yawnfest this year.

Korea F1 track to host first races next month

Korea's new Formula One circuit is scheduled to host its first motor races at the end of next month. The scheduling is the latest rebuttal to constant rumours that the track in South Jeolla province will not be ready for its inaugural Grand Prix in late October.

The Asian Festival of Speed, with Asian GT and junior single seaters on the bill, was originally set to take place at the South Korean venue at the end of this month. Event organisers said in a statement that the rescheduling was due to construction delays "caused by bad weather".

Lets hope everything is in place for the GP.

Oh well. Only 10 days to go to Spa. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

I much preferred the pre 2010 Bahrain layout. Great job by the management to revert to a better setup over there.
