Anyone beat my run of bad luck this week...

On Monday my eldest son threw the Wii control through the screen of my 8 month old Sony Bravia 40"...This would be the TV that I claimed off the house insurance for when my youngest son ran past it with a metal Phantom model and gouged the wing across the screen...

So after that the wife and both boys are driving to Wales (I've been in Bristol on a course so I've been receiving all this via texts and tearful calls) when the car started making a noise and the gears began playing up...She headed to a service station but before that the gears decided to self destruct...and the clutch decided to join in. Its getting fixed now to the tune of about £1400...

And the weeks not over yet...

Oh yeah and I got audited today!

That's nothing that Vim. I had pins and needles in my hand earlier. It's gone now though.

Just had the results of the invest into why the gearbox has committed suicide...The garage in Wales thinks that when a garage in Lincoln drained and flushed the engine they accidently drained the gearbox as well as the draining points are side by side and they didn't refill it...A number of other mistakes have been discovered incl. missing panels, clips, screws and bolts...I've already phoned the Lincoln garage this week to complain about some missing panels that wopuld have had to have been removed for the new turbo to be fitted and they've essentially told me to 'prove it' which obviously is very difficult...

Is there an authority that someone could report a garage to?

Trading standards possibly. It may cost, but a written report from the garage where the car is now may help.

Had my shifts sorted for next week. Had Sunday off and working Saturday. Saints play Celtic crusaders on the Sunday, game on I thought but sky decided the want to broadcast the match and have decided Saturday will be a good time. Now have to arrange a shift swap. Not many people willing to give up a Sunday payment for a Saturday payment

Vim, how many miles from the service to breakdown? Also, the 'prove it' sketch speaks volumes. As said previously, get a report from the repairing garage and go for the fcukers. How about casually naming and shaming the garage involved? Failing everything else, up the ante and sabotage the car of the offending garages owner, simples! Hope that helps.:pDT_Xtremez_19:

There was a story in my local rag last year where a guy got stitched up by a local car dealer. He had the car signwritten with all the faults on the car and complaints about the garage...............then parked it in full view across the road from them untill they agreed to sort it.
Just a thought like! :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Try the AA or RAC for an independent inspection and use the legal expenses element of your car Insurance to get some weight behind your claim. Also your local Trading Standards can assist with wording in your letters to make sure you stay on the right side of the law - they may also have some history on the Garage in Lincoln.

I had a similar claim against Vauxhall years ago - took ages and they denied liability for over a year before "buying back the broken bits for investigation purposes" and obviously "not admitting liability" they did eventually pay up including a fair wack of incidental expenses

Good luck - prepare to be patient
