One voice isn't going to make a huge amount of difference. If the powers that be decide to brutalise the RAF we've had it.

I too share the above comments, I think its too late and we shall be the fall guys for the cuts. That is fine we shall fall on the sword to help the UK get over a messy period. We give more in benefits than funding to the RAF/Navy per year so with some luck they will get rid of the cheats that have been robbing us.

We shall bow out and will see an end to airshows and Britain providing some fast firepower on target, but as long as we have 60,000 troops and tanks that fight our wars in the future then we can rest easy.

Afghanistan will be the last overseas conflict that will see the British soldier in action. I can assure you we will not be packing punches anywhere in the world from now on.

As Jim Royle would say billy me old china"bow out my arse" i dont usually like to be to serious on e goat but with out air power we will be right royally fcucked like a one legged man in an international arse kicking competition.

As for British troops never seeing conflict on overseas soil again im sorry Billy but i think thats the most nieve coment ive ever heard and they will need air power our air power not some conditional spam air power that we have to compromise our independence for or sit up and beg like a dog for.

We all need to scream like our b@llocks are in a vice about this not wave a white hanky.

If we send out the wrong signals internationaly as sure as eggs is eggs
somebody will fcuck us over.

The Dagos tryed it in 82 because we scrapped the Ark Royal are we to make the same mistake again?

Dont fall on your sword Billy boy get off your arse and start waving it about!!!.

We clip the wings of the RAF at our peril

We clip the wings of the RAF at our peril

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/...e-clip-the-wings-of-the-RAF-at-our-peril.html

A very well written piece actually defending the light blue team for a change. I especially like this part:

"Just because we are currently fighting an Army-led, low-intensity war in Afghanistan, in which attaining air supremacy is not an issue, does not mean to say that we will not need a highly professional Air Force to deal with future threats to our security."

Shame the shouts of the Army will probably have the most impact when it comes to cuts (for the record I also believe the Navy should get the new carriers).

I just wish more people could think outside the box.

I wonder where the axe would be falling if we didn't have ground troops in Afghanistan right now. The simple mathematics employed by MOD would probably lead them to say that they could get rid of the 60,000 troops, airmen and seamen involved in a 3-year rotation. The Afghan conflict is keeping jobs for the military.
