Reasonable premise is surely enough.

Don't think thats good enough, thats why its actually a stupid rule. The language used during the race and in particular the tones of voice used carried an implicit message. And yet now they have all remembered the script and their place within the pecking order and are playing dumb as if nothing happened and insulting everyones intelligence.

They were fined 10 times that for "failing to adhere to podium protocol" at Austria 2002. Really a rap on the knuckles eh?

How many more rules do Ferrari want to break? They tested in season and got away with it. Sorry to say, but it's spoilt the season for me, I can only hope that Ferrari don't win the Championship.

I am getting really fed up with it now. I didn't really watch it but it was on in the back ground. I have been following F1 since the early 80's and have really enjoyed some years.

Ferrari need to be taken down a peg or two to show them and others that they have to abide by the rules. F1 is bigger than Ferrari and they need to understand that.

Its a start but they need to do more a lot lot more. But it wont be enough, as as soon as massa moved over I turned the TV over. it doesnt matter about the arguement wether they did or not. It's the viewer and fans that were robbed and they are the ones that count. They have brought the sport into disripute yet again and they should be hammered for it. If it was mclaren I dread to think what would happen.

An interesting theory, though a little hard to prove as a fact given the "happenings" over the last few years. $100,000 fine, they'll take that out of the tea swindle, hardly a penalty worthy of the name.

It is the biggest penalty which the race stewards are allowed to dish out. The real punishment could come from the WMC IF they decide to do so.

Ferrari decided not to appeal today and think they will be able to talk the FIA round to letting them off. Will Jean Todt Put them in their place? WE shall have to wait and see.

I was properly disgusted and also angered at what happened today, I really feel for Massa at having to give up his rightful win to a petulant child like Alonso, if the only way Alonso can get wins is to be handed them then he deserves nothing!

Well, with Jean Todt being President of Ferrari International Assistance... and previously CEO of Ferrari... I'm sure we'll witness complete impartiality on his part....:pDT_Xtremez_34:

They should get taken to the cleaners. Ferrari clearly broke the rules, and while we are at it Alonso should get done for lying. He should know better after what happened to Hamilton when he got caught fibbing!

Massa's Engineer has as good as signed there fate if not by the first message certainly the second one.

While he lied the difference is Lewis lied to the stewards when there was proof that it was a lie. Alonso is so sly that he didn't come out with an obvious lie it was all in code.

Lots of furore in the press today...
:pDT_Xtremez_42:

II never thought I'd compliment Nick Fry, as I usually think that he talks rubbish.
:pDT_Xtremez_06:

However:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85574

"Formula 1 teams should put the good of the sport above their own personal ambitions, and realise how damaging the use of 'team orders' can be to the image of grand prix racing."

"The show is what generates the fans; the fans are what generates the sponsors, and the sponsors generate sponsorship which allows us to run the teams. So they are the customers at the end of the day, and we have got to put on a good show."

"This is sport and the fans out there want to see the drivers fighting. While the teams think it is a teams' championship, most of the fans - possibly with the exception of Ferrari - support the drivers who happen to drive for a team.
"I think we have to let them fight it out and only intervene if it is getting out of hand, and they are knocking each other off."

This sounds like a completely different person! But I must admit, I find it most welcome

The best quotes of the press conference once the general press got in there...

Where will this victory rank in your career, is it up there with Singapore 2008?
And after a lot of grilling the Ferrari Duo,
SV: Can I go?
Did anyone else pick up on the fact that Stefano said on the BBC coverage that before the race they discussed the result that the team needed. That could be indicative of premeditation much like Piquet Jr's little "accident". I was honestly looking forward to the two drivers battling it out much like they were doing some 10 laps prior.

It was premeditated by alonso's radio call,..........."this is rediculas".

If he was faster, why the hell didn't he just drive past?

Cannot see anyone being happy with this result other than Alonso, even then it tarnishes his greatness, which does exist.

However for the sake of a few points the race should have been allowed to run as per a race not a farce, Massa could have made a late entry on one of the corners like he did early on and nobody would have been half as wise.

Shameful day, however as I have Alsonso in the Fantasy F1 it's not a complete loss.

Let them start from the back of the pack for the next race that'll teach em.

Ferrari don't operate like all the other teams who let their drivers race each other though do they? In this instance they were probably terrified that if they just left Alonso to overtake Massa legitimately they could end up taking each other out which would score the team zip.
To be honest, I've no doubt that other teams have plans and coded instructions in place whereby they can tell one driver to let another through, it would be naive to think otherwise. However whilst the teams can issue instructions to their drivers and race engineers what they can't do is force them to like those decisions. I think its quite clear from the radio transmissions that Rob Smedley didn't expect and didn't agree with the yesterday's decision and more than gave the game away in his tone of voice and apology after the event.
