MoD: "Shaping a new Defence: Help us get Defence right"

Nice idea. Just a pity I cannot convince myself that anyone will listen to the likes of me.
Even the title puts me off and reminds me of most reviews on manpower and material over the last 40 years that the resulting cuts were already known before the review took place.

They could start by correcting the tiltle. "Help us get Defence right" needs changing as we already know that is unaffordable.

Yeah, maybe a more appropriate title would be either:

MoD: "Shaping a new Defence: Help us identify which of you malingerers we can do without!" :pDT_Xtremez_06:
or

MoD: "Shaping a new Defence: We know we're broke, but we have to have a bigger Army/Navy/Air Force than Greece"

or

MoD: "Shaping a new Defence: Can anyone lend us a monkey? We need to buy some boots."

guess neither of you submitted your thoughts on it then. You don't have to give any personal information so it won't be tracked to you. Why not give it ago? If they don't listen to your ideas you haven't really lost anything, but if they do....... you may have made the world a better place.....maybe.

I've just submitted mine. I doubt they will be listened to, but at least I've done it.

Just being realistic.

Imagine the scene; having invited comment, they get 50 000 sets of 500 words each. Some poor so-and-so now has to sift their way through 25 000 000 words of wisdom, before making a decision to include this view vs that one... And this is before, during, or in parallel with considering government views on future threats, capital programme cuts, manpower 'adjustments', etc.

It's really going to happen, isn't it?

Likewise. My kicking went to changing the rules on the Role of Military in Acquisition (ROMIA)... reducing the number of Wg Cdr/Sqn Ldrs.... substituting with much cheaper civilians (albeit civil serpents) on cost and continuity grounds... not that anyone'll buy that idea...:pDT_Xtremez_42: That'd be bad for Service Officers' career development:pDT_Xtremez_34:

Heard a sniff of a rumour at Waddo last week that capped actuals are going away...probably by the end of the year in favour of a smaller amount but unreceipted...Just like everyone has been saying to do for the past couple of years...

Exile,

I didn't think people could be so naive (or was that me for thinking so)?.
I take it you did the survey "on-line"? In which case , yes it could be tracked to you by a variety of means if the govt. wanted to (unless like me you use ananomisers / proxy servers / IP spoofing for that sort of thing).

How many goaters think they can "hide" behind a computer?
