The news has just been announced that Woy Hodgson has just been announced as manager of Liverpool FC, replacing Rafa Benitez.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8721942.stm

Personally, I am quite pleased to see him come to us, though never in the past had anyone really considered him as a Liverpool manager. My heart always said Kenny Dalglish, but my head knew that that wouldn't really happen. I am a little disturbed by his track record ( he tends to move on after a couple of years) and with the England job possibly coming up in the next couple of years, would he jump ship and take that?

But then, he is one of the most respected names in football and hopefully he can bring a bit of stability to the club and give the team some new ideas and options without breaking the bank.

Welcome Mr Hodgson. YNWA.

WH - I hope that you are right, we need stability at the present. He moves around a wee bit but at his age he may now just want to settle into this job.
If he can sort out the back-room stuff and filter the pressure off the team, that will be good.

Well, with waskily Woy Hodgson as new Wiverpool mananger we are now about as far from the old bootroom as its possible to be. Still, perhaps thats not a bad thing, he's well liked and respected through the game and has bags of experience. Players know him and we may still be able to attract some that may otherwise look elsewhere.
Be interseting to see how we line up and play under Roy, roll on the new season. Can't be any worse than last......

can it? :pDT_Xtremez_42:

Attempted to reply earlier but got distracted by your avatar WH !

Just read the article in the Mail and feeling quietly optimistic. More so than when Roy's name first came up.

Lets get Gerrard & Torres squared away and see how the season pans out up to Xmas for starters before getting too excited.

More importantly lets get the Yanks out and get the finances squared away as a priority.

Just read the Mail article - pleased to see Jovanovic signing. Interesting bit about Hangeland and Murphy.

The priority is of course Torres and Gerrard. I believe they will stay until at least Xmas. I can't see Hodgson putting them as second fiddle and I would like to think they will thrive with some new ideas and tactics, training, playing style, etc.

Well thats the thing, what with football being a buisness. If Woy turns it round-on a shoestring as is his wont-then the Yanks`ll see it as an excuse to keep reaping.

If you had told LFC fans at the beginning of last season (when most of them predicted the title after coming so close the season before) that Woy would be your new manager this season they would have wet themselves laffing and told you to f##k off (FACT....oop's sorry he's gone).
After Deschamps comments yesterday Woy did'nt even appear to be thier 1st choice. Come on admit it you all wanted Jose!

Now he has taken the Liverpool job its a fore gone conclusion he will be offered the England job in a couple of years time. Lets face it he will have built up experience of managing a dull, mundane talentless, under performing team before he moves to Lancaster Gate and takes over another.

He has a very enviable CV in management from Sweden to Switzerland he has done well both with league teams and national sides. He did a superb job at Fulham with a squad of players who were not household names when he took over. Comes across as a genuine nice guy, keeps his cool and with a good football brain for players individual talents and team tactics, shame whilst at Blackburn he could not do what he did at Fulham. Liverpool for me, as a Stanley fan, have made a very good choice.

I think the yanks, who don't understand football, are doing an appalling job at Liverpool and the sooner they go the better for the club, for the same reasons long may the Glaziers stay at Man Ure. And it's Stanley as in the mighty Accrington Stanley of league 2 and milk advert fame. Exactly :pDT_Xtremez_30:
