That's exactly what I mean by wooly, what is excessive chocolates, sweets and crisps? I don't tend to eat stuff like that so one chocolate bar in a day would seem adequate to me and to someone like me who was completing an audit, I have though worked with some right fat fcuks who would think nothing of 2 mars bars at every teabreak with 3 at lunch with 2 packs of crisps. If someone like that was doing the audit then the rules change completely. If I'm on a course with someone from another Unit it effectively means that I am subject to different rules for my expenses than they are despite us supposedly doing an identical job at that time, but we wouldn't know who was going to be able to claim what until stuff was rejected.
We need solid numbers if they're going to start throwing things like that in, such as no more than £3 in a day on chocolate. As an aside to that I have been out when supposed to be on DS before and actually only had time for a coffee and a muffin on the go from a coffee shop, under the rules stated by the OP I can't claim that as it isn't actually a meal despite being all I could get down me in the time I had available, so working hard could put me at a disadvantage.
It's a load of old bollocks, I don't try and spend every penny when I'm on DS because quite frankly I got bored with it and I can't believe I'm the only one. This rule is going to start making people like me go out and make sure I spend all £27 or whatever it is on a slap up meal every time I can effectively costing more.

We did just that on a recent aircraft recovery to Cardiff, spent the equivalent of £27 every night, some nights £10, but the following night £44, as you can average your money over the period of time, we also claimed for grazing and vending. All went through sweet!!!!!! :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Claims should be reasonable, not excessive in nature and provide good value for the MOD.

Who judges this, one persons excessive is clearly different to anothers, I've seen people 'rate save' during the week and then blow $250 in one meal and that claim was ok'd.

The systems fine it's the individuals performing audits and those handing down ill thought out cack handed penny pinching orders that's the problem.

In the current climate common sense has gone out the window, there is a culture of just saying no, I attempted to get justification for HOTAC over inappropriate accommodation the other day but despite everybody agreeing with me and the predicament they've all been told that no special circumstances exist.

In the end I cancelled the course and rebooked out of contract provision, in the end it's cost me and the RAF more money than the solution I tried to get through.

Anyway this is off topic now so I'm off to bed

That's just it Busby, the system relies on individuals interpretation of the rules instead of giving clear cut guidance, that means that by extension the system has failed. As a technician I have clear guidelines I must follow, if what I'm doing falls outside the tolerance of what the AP says it must be sorted and I can be safe in the knowledge that no matter who works on the same equipment will follow the same rules regardless of where they are in the world.
This JSP doesn't give those rules and leaves individuals to make decisions based on their own belief on what the RAF actually want and will allow, it is a very dangerous way to run things as it can leave audit clerks at different Units open to disciplinary action if one person at one Unit gets charged when the decision at another Unit is to let certain things slide as the rules have been interpreted differently.
We all use this JSP but it is the audit clerks who are in real danger of falling foul of it and as such should be the ones seeking clarification through their chain of command. If I was given such a vague AP to work from I would certainly be filling out the appropriate forms to have it looked at and changed.

I work in the nhs and sometimes have to travel away from my area of work. In the past depending on how many of us there where, the person in charge of the group would be given a some of money, usually about £100 for food etc. The only stipulation was we had to have receipts for what was spent. Now things have changed we have to claim individually and have receipts for food and drink only. This money is then paid in our wages. The old way was never abused, the fellow in the cash office used to say you've not spent much, hinting we could have spent more but why bother as long as you are fed and watered why abuse the system.
