Tell me something I dont know.

THE SUN

I do like this bit .

In Afghanistan they are a lifeline for forces on the ground. At home they are needed to train pilots, troops and engineers whose skills will soon be required for real.
Err Soon be required for real!!!!!! What have we been doing for the last 8 years in Iraq and Afghan? I'm faily sure the rockets and mortars I was bravely dodging in Basra and Kandahar were real.

So, if we buy more Hercs (or even borrow them off the yanks) will there be enough room at Brize for all of our transport/tanker fleet?

I see no reason for the Parachute Regt to survive really, when was the last time they jumped into a war zone? 195? The Suez Canal.
Anyway, they've often gone abroad to jump, the SAS/SBS do it quite regularly, more to Pau than anywhere because of the weather.
Don't you just hate journos.

Load of Toss
Paras have been jumping abroad for years that way they get the weather and the opportunity to train with other forces
No different to the Reds going to Cyprus or Tornadoes and Helicopters training out in the U.S.

It's only a backlog in training once you get the wings up you only need a certain amount of jumps in to remain qualified and keep the Para Pay
Talking to someone from the Paras alot of lads missed out on Jump training because they went straight on tour
There are very few non winged members of the Parachute Regiment now most of the backlog is attached arms and T.A.

I just find this bizarre as we now have the Army and the Navy (marines) that has no care for the RAF slagging us off what we cannot provide. If these simple people had an idea that its not that the RAF is holding you guys back its the governemnt that buys these machines and gives money to make them all work.

Frustrating is not the word

I've always found that lobsters can get stuck in the wiring, especially on the stretch models.

Would be much more fun if we filled up the beasts with American Cheerleaders and then played Van Morrison to them as the back door opens.
