just wondering what preferences manning look at when someone applys for an overseas posting as i have done the very same. unsure as to whether i will get it. anyone have any ideas?
Do you mean to say that you have applied when you say you have done the same?
Call me cynical but I'm a firm believer in thinking that the overseas posts have already been "handed out" before it hits the trawl. It's supposed to go on time served versus the time since the last tour and all under the caveat of service needs.
Better odds on the sports lottery!

I would ensure that JPA says 'Cyprus' within your employment preferences.
Basically, i think they create a list of all those who applied for it, then the person who has been in the RAF the longest, and the longest since last overseas tour will get the posting.
Hurry up and get out here. I'm still having to make my own brews! DT_Xtremez_09:[/Q
i make the best brew ever
For anyone who may have missed out on the last trawl you may wish to know that Manning are now looking for 2 more SACs Suppliers for Akrotiri, see the latest volunteers list for details. Posts are vacant now so feel free to waive the 90 days notice.

OK, Been told recently that i have been one of the lucky few to get a posting to akrotiri, not got my dates yet, but have told i am going. So i know its been asked before, it was proberly from me, just after up to date info.
Should i take my own car, shipping is only around £600 from quotes i have?
Depends on how old it is, and size of the engine could cost anything upto a couple of grand in euros to register it in Cyprus
What age are children when they start school out there?
Same as UK.
I am sure jobs are few and far between for wives, but are there any?
You are correct however with personnel changing over all the time jobs do become available and filled subject to normal interview etc.
Current free accomodation i am likley to get/cost?
How do you mean accommodation is currently "free"? You are obviously married so standard MQ rent will apply. Cost will be dependant on which MQ you get allocated.
Also we have a cat, my wife will not leave without her, i know we have to get all the jabs and chips. will the cat go on RAF transport or travel seperatley, if anyone knows?
Cheers guys
Here's the up to date info you're after from someone who's actually here.

If it has air con and is relatively new, then yes, it is worth bringing it. Try indulging it via Lyneham exports before you pay though. Second hand car market is very healthy here. Expect to pay €2000 for a 10-12 year old car. Don't worry about import axes, you're military so you get it duty free.

After the WAVELL decision was made a lot of UK dependants jobs were axed. If she can speak Greek or has a teaching qualification, she's laughing. If not, then she'll be limited to unskilled, holiday season work. There are jobs on camp but these are for pin money, hairdressers, bar work etc.

Don't know what you mean by this.

Pets will have to go by private civvy arrangement. There are agencies run by Brits out here though to sort it out once Felix arrives.
Cheers guys
