Nice to see things don't change much."we scored several victories over Typhoon in air to air combat"(D.A.C.T.)The small fact that the Typhoon's in question were simulating SU27/MIG29 at the time being of no importance!

I believe he means this...But I could be wrong

as the article was dated late 2009

XI Sqn left a rather gloomy Coningsby to participate in ATLC in the UAE. The trail out to Al Dhafra Airbase was uneventful with a night stop in Akrotiri, Cyprus, on the way.

The exercise consisted of 7 Typhoons from XI Sqn, American F-15C Eagles , French Mirage 2000-5, Saudi F-15C Eagles, Emirates Mirage 2000-9 and F-16 Block 60 together with air-to-air refuelling aircraft and AWACS. The aim of the exercise was to continue working on our Multi Role training whilst participating in a multi national, large scale exercise.

Yes that's the one!It seems the French are happily telling the press that they did extremely well with Rafale against the Typhoon in D.A.C.T. (4:0 and 3:0) although the only time both Aircraft were operating without any limitation on the R.A.F. Typhoons they were both 'Blue' assets!I was amazed at the audacity!Still this is probably how they still have a national Military Aircraft Industry!

1) A Leiutenant Colonel In the French Air force has held a meeting with some people who write for newspapers to say that the French Rafale Fighter wiped the Floor with The R.A.F. Typhoons they flew against during Air to Air combat exercises at Al Dhafra recently.2)The R.A.F. however did not not operate in these exercises with there usual abilities as they were simulating Russian Air Craft (Sukhoi 27 and Mig 29 Fighters)This meant they were not able to use their Aircraft to the level of ability they could have. The only time that they functioned at their full ability they were on the same side as the French. This is important because both the French Dassault Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon are currently competing for various sales orders world wide.I thought this was of interest because A) the ability of the R.A.F. crews and Aircraft was being misrepresented and 2)The value of the R.A.F. in general seems to be under examination at home in the U.K.Hope this clarifies my earlier post!
