How dare you correct me. I am a SNCO. PM me your service details immediately so I can carry out MAA on you.

If you are truely are a SNCO then you should check what you are writing before you post something containing errors!

Spend more time checking your own work (that is if you do any) rather than being a **** and spouting on about MMA.stfu

Oh dear....me thinks you need to take a look at a few other threads that ILLBW has contributed to over the years...........you'll find them all on a similar note.

Should be compulsory reading for newbies.

I am not a Newbie and I know most of what ILLBW has contributed over the years but still I think he is a **** with very little to contribute that is of any use to others.

ILLBW etc

ILLBW etc

C'mon folks, leave poor ILLBW alone. I look forward to his 'military cabbage' posts/rants, and he reminds me of at least one ex-wo I used to hate and glad to no longer know. He also serves to remind us how normal the rest of our points of view are. More power to your ranting, brucie, but learn how to spell, mate. Then again, don't bother, you do get some good bites.

anonimouse, tell him to stick at it, he's obviously got something going for him to get that far.

My friends son got taken on by Man Utd. After 18 months he hadn't improve enough technically and was let go. He didn't get offered a job in the canteen or the boot room as there were no slots at the time.

I'm not being nasty, it’s just that the Service has changed and is saving every penny they can. Even if a highly experienced engineer in the RAF who does not pass their fitness test can be 'let go'.

Please push him. Don't waste his talent.

I'm not sure if this thread is even about this topic anymore:pDT_Xtremez_21:...

But back to the original point, I am in a branch that had a massive chop rate (FC/ABM) but when I went through, everyone who didn't make it, had a shot at the other branches that were open, or held for one to open...

Ref the Man U post by IAL, 18 months training with Man U gave him no pre-requisite training for the canteen/boot room, so therefore on level footing with joe public, but annonimouse's son holds/held a commission, so what is the point of getting rid of him, to then spend all that money again on training someone through IOT (Who may or may not pass this stage), to then train them in the trade, who again may not pass. Holding as an Officer often develops the JO as they are exposed to the RAF whilst being given some element of reponsibility (If given a decent hold - not simply photocopying!!). I guess what I'm trying to say is, failing ATC doesn't mean he won't make a good Adminer, or IntO, when these open.

On the fitness test front, again, failing the fitness test is a standard you need to meet for all branches, so fail it, and you're out, simple... Failing your fitness test isn't like failing a role specific course...

That said, I agree with IAL's other points, especially reference pushing him, and not wasting his talent!!

I feel great sympathy for anonimouse's son but he is far from being the only one in this position. For example, one friend of mine completed the FEngO course at Cosford and was progressing normally through IOT until he failed the air power exam at the end of Term 2. At the resit he still came up 2% short of the pass mark so was chopped. Apparently a sound understanding of Clausewitznian dogma is vital to the task of getting aircraft off the ground. This is just one of many recent examples.

Anonimouse Jr would have been told repeatedly throughout IOT that his commission would only be confirmed once he had completed phase 2 training. In the past we were able to absorb those who did not succeed at their original branch but competition is now fierce. The door is still open for Anonimouse Jr to rejoin in the future and he may even avoid having to complete IOT again. Or he can take his life down a different path with the assurance that he has already achieved more than most people of his age group. Either way, he has already proven a strength of character which will see him through this difficult time.

Totally agree with TGJ here. Anonimouse Jr got off his arris to gen up on his GSK, decided to get the quals at school that would give him the best chance of gaining employment with the RAF, joined and indeed passed IOT and failed at the last hurdle.
He's most probs very gutted as all of us would be but he has shown that he has more moral fibre than 60% of people of his age. He can always try again and I hope he does. I would rather serve under an officer who really wanted to join the RAF than one who just thinks its a doss.
If he doesn't try again then I wish him the best of luck in his next venture.

Just for info - his last day in the RAF was March 24th & he was very sad to hand in his ID card.

However he has applied for 4 jobs, invited to interviews for 3 & starts his new career on Monday! The whole experience has been so emotional for the family but not a waste of time & hopefully he will be able to re-apply to the RAF when the political situation is better.

It has certainly proved his character & he is a stronger person for it - good luck to him & all his colleagues in the same situation.
