Not sure, he was a junior pilot on 41 back in 79/80, when I had very few grey hairs! Top guy then, one of the few who gave a cr4p about the engineers.
What happened to him then? When he was Staish at Colt he didn't give a flying fcuk!
Edit: Google him - 3 Jag tours, then Tonkas (inc OC 13 Sqn), Harry Staish at Colt... plus obligatory Staff College and HQ, etc tours

There were a few pilots like that at Colt on the Jag force. Those who didn't change didn't advance in rank, those who did change, got promoted.

No suprise there the Army are always banging on about boots on the ground however if you have to take a enemy position which way is better ,lots of troops advancing in to machine gun fire over mine fields etc sustaining casultys etc or simply droping 1,000lbs of high explosives on their heads ?
Also notice the navy sating their case citing the Falklands because with the exception og the Marines that was the last time the Navy was seroiusly involved in any conflict compred to both the Army and Air force.

With regards to cuts lets half the number of shiny arsed buracrats within both the Forces and MOD Sort out our procurement and stop buying crap just because it is made by british waste of space or the europeans lets buy proven stuff which works eg C-17 instead of A400 M-16 instead of SA-80 Chinook instead of Merlin ,Blackhawks instead of Lynx/Sea King, puma etc ( the list is endless and could go on ) get Rid of the Guards regiments cause we dont use horses in the Field anymore get rid of 32R sqn/ the queens flight what ever they call themselves this week and lets steamline the forces eg the Airforce operate all aircarft and if that means we have to change a bit to suport the Army and Naval role so be it Let the Army do all the Ground stuff and the navy do all the boat stuff Then if you have 3 services with 3 difrent trades doing the same job lets alamgamate them or civilianise them
As for planning the forces for afgan type conflicts as the Mod etc think history has shown you can not plan the type of conflict you will next be involved and like wise you can not buy equipment on the same basis .
