Can anyone give me advice, posted to new posting doctors letters submitted explaining wife is disabled left side paralised got to new posting quarter which was outside my base, about 30 min the house given could not be adapted to wifes needs.
When ocupational therapist pointed this out to dhe they decided jointly with ourselfs to do a house up nearer my work for my wife.
When i applied for disturbance allowance it was refused by my unit, due to fact i had been paid it to move to this posting.
Had they got it right in first place i would not have had to move my wife and family twice.
Where the heck is the fairness in that we had to move kids school uniform diffrent etc etc

I know, it doesn't seem fair at all. But you're only entitled to the disturbance allowance if you are moved for service reasons, i.e. if the RAF has TOLD you you have to move. Although the reasons for the second move are nothing to be easily dismissed, they are still "personal" reasons.

It may not seem fair that youre not getting another £1000 to move to another house nearby, but at least they are accommodating your wife's needs by sorting the second house out for you. Surely that is the most important thing.

I'd still chase it though, through official channels and make sure they show you in writing why you are not elligible for the 2nd disturbance allowance, don't just take some shiney's word for it.

You would have to spent x amount of days in the first house before you can get a 2nd distrubance allowance.

Similar thing happened to a friend where he got posted to another station then promoted straight away they said he couldnt claim for disturbance and had to stay in house for x amount of days.

Will try and find out more info!

I think you have to occupy a house for 6 months to claim the appropriate DA.

......and it is normally for one move although for a Mid-assignment Move it is payable where the move of accommodation is for Service, compassionate, welfare or medical reasons....

As always, submit a case identifying all the facts and the costs you have subsequently incurred as a direct result of the second move which was not your fault.

IF YOU DON'T ASK......THEY CAN ONLY SAY NO!

See the Chf Clk for further guidance ASAP and best of luck!

Just playing devils advocate here, I appreciate the predicament you're in, but why did you accept the house in the first place?

I take it your removals expenses were paid for twice, so its not like you are out of pocket. Like everyone else, I sympathise with your situation, but getting 2 lots of DA for one "service reason" move is not likely to happen. Kids uniforms dont cost £1000.
